Hacking buying a cartidge and downloading DLC from different region?

hi there, say I bought a game from PAL region (NZ), and used it in emunand classic mode (which is US/ASIA model) can I still buy dlc from the US eshops?

It depends on what kind of DLC, if you have to download it from the eshop then no. Ingame free DLCs like those quests for Monster Hunter "should" work.

Yeah, anything that directly connects to the game server to just download a small free thing should be fine, (for example, Layton probably does this for the weekly puzzles) but anything that goes through the eShop (most games) wouldn't work.

darn. oh well I guess I will refrain from buying pal region games then.

Us/Asia model?

yes, I bought mine in indonesia. southeast asia 3ds consoles are actually locked with us/asia region. although I'm not sure whether I have complete access to US eshops (I set my country united states to make sure).

I'm tempted to buy some 3ds games here such as fire emblem. but if I cannot buy dlcs, it would be meaningless. oh well, back to play-asia.

The only region-unlocking that is possible is related to the launching of games from other regions. However, you still would not be able to access the eShop for those games.
