I'm looking to buy a Gateway to go with the 3DS I just got on eBay and as far as I could tell wcrepairs.com aka Windy City Repairs is the only Gateway seller that would let me pay with Paypal. So I was just wondering if anyone here has had experience with them. I don't want to spend $75 on a chip that's never going to get here after all.

Also semi-related, has anyone had experience using prepaid Visa cards like GreenDot or Vanilla Visa to buy from online stores, especially RealHotStuff? I looked around on here and saw RHS had a pretty good share of supporters but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing sonewhere that they only take Visa and I don't feel comfortable using my Visa card for online purchases if I can avoid it.

Thanks a lot for any helpful info you can give me.

I bought it from modchipcentral, but they also only accept visa cards. Most of the sites doesn't let you pay via paypal. I don't know how can they use paypal, as far as I know, Paypal doesn't allow to use their service to sell this kind of things. Anyway, if you don't want to risk I would recommend modchipcentral or RHStuff as you said, they have a little more of reviews here.

Don't see why not m8ty, its on there reseller list. If an online firm is on the actual legit Gateway reseller list then you are good to go! That means it is Gateway approved for selling there products :)

If it's paypal you're pretty covered, it would be pretty hard for them to screw you and take your money.

For prepaid visas, check if you bank allows you to generate disposable credit card numbers with a fixed amount in them. I know Bank of America lets yo do so.

I'm not so sure about that. Paypal has in their TOS that they not cover and allow transactions or purchases of illegal stuff. I'm sure that they would consider the GW as that.

They'll fault the seller for accepting paypal on the transaction, not the buyer.

Bought today in Eachmall. It's cheap, it has paypal (turn Franc. or rus. lang on. I dunno why eng. ver don't have paypal option. Just an error probably.) I haven't received my order yet of course, but my DSTWO has been ordered from there a while ago with no problems.

Technically it's what you do with the chip that makes it illegal, not the chip itself. Especially now that it supports multi-rom, you could use the same argument people were using for DS flashcarts like R4: If I already own the games, then I can legally use the chip because it's just a more convenient way to carry them all around.

I'll have to ask the lady down at the Wells Fargo but I didn't see anything about Wells Fargo letting you do that when I searched online.

Well I figured I'd ask because Acekard.ca was and still is on Gateway's reseller list even though it's been impossible to get on their website for the last week or so and I've seen multiple people on here warning about how bad they are.

Thanks for that information. I'll ask my dad whether he thinks the safety of Paypal is worth it, but so far I think I'm going to go with RealHotStuff.

I would go with RealHotStuff, they ship really fast and I have used them for several products so far (AK2i,DSTwo,R4i Gold, EZflash IV and 3in1, and Gateway) and have had no problems with them so far.

Yeah I figured as much seeing how many good reviews there are on here for them when I could barely find anyone mentioning Windy City Repairs. Now I just need to call them and ask if it would be a problem to use a Visa gift card just because I don't feel comfortable having my regular Visa card linked to any site related to flashcarts.

Using cc for purchasing on these sites are pretty safe, most of them use trusted external cc processing sites rather then using the site its self

are you sure?
I just tried either language on checkout and neither of them had a paypal option (this is eachmall.me that sells flashcarts not the .com which sells everything else but flashcarts but accepts paypal)

What if it's a debit card? I didn't like the idea that I could theoretically spend more than I had and since I'm a first year college student, there's not too much I needed to buy so I decided I didn't need to get a credit card even though I have an offer for one from my bank.

If you insist on a prepaid card, it would work fine. Just use it as a credit card, no need to mention them. You're wasting an extra 6 dollars or so by paying the fee that comes on the card.

I've bought from RHS using both Visa and Mastercard, never had an issue with them.

Using a CC online isn't really problematic. Just keep an eye on your CC bill and report any suspicious transactions to the issuing bank's fraud department, you're not responsible if you find anything has gone down.

If anything, it's probably riskier to use a CC in person these days. Between card skimmers and hackers going after retail store databases (remember Target recently), there's really no more reason to be confident of offline CC use vs online use.

But it's up to you, it's your life.

I don't see an option where it says I can pay with paypal. Did you ask them directly?

No I just looked at their page. If you scroll down to the bottom and click the link labeled "Secure Payment" then one of the things it says is "USA customer can take advantange of using Paypal as our Credit Card payment getway."

Alright I just placed an order with RealHotStuff. Thanks for the help guys.

Also, they sent me an email saying I got like 74 reward points but I don't get the point of those. It feels a bit gimmicky.
