Hi,

As the title suggests, my acekard icon has changed to just Acekard, it shows up intermittently on the menu and when clicked, it gives an error.

I'm not sure what the problem is...

The DSi hasn't been updated (1.4.1E) and the card was working before

Could you post any pictures?
The first time around it isn't detected

When I restart the DSi this comes up (instead of Stormbreaker)

It's more than likely a read error (I get them from time to time as well). Try cleaning the contacts of your Acekard off.
I've tried cleaning them with no success, is there any sort of formula you use on them?

I just use standard rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab to clean them. Let them sit for a few minutes to completely dry, and they're usually good to go. If it's not that, try putting a paper behind the cartridge. Some systems don't like reading them because they don't sit on the system's cartridge reader properly. That usually happens with phats and lites, but you could try it as well.

Does the cart work in a DS Lite? the DS and DS Lite will run pretty much any card (even older ones if FlashMe firmware is installed on it)
I have had contact issues with my AK2i but have never had the card revert to its real name.

If you can get it to work in a DS Lite, try updating it to the dsi 1.4.4/3ds-v3.0 update listed on the bottom of the page here http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Updating_the_AK2i_Bootloader
(the 3ds 4.3 one takes at least twice as long as the older firmwares to boot on any of the consoles)
also, remember to never update the DSi as it will go straight to 1.4.5 and the AK2i will cease to function on it.

Personally, I would just replace the AK2i with a R4i Gold as it is still being produced and would allow you to use it on DSi firmware 1.4.5 if you ever wanted to upgrade it for some reason.

The problem is I don't even have a DS lite so testing it isn't a possibility :(

just replace the AK2i with a R4i Gold then
also, the interface is near identical to AKAIO (what the AceKard runs) so its real easy to pickup and use without needing to relearn anything.
as a bonus, it works on the latest DSi (1.4.5) and 3DS firmwares (7.1.0-16U as of now)

the only downside I see is that the build quality is not as good as the AceKard (I know as I have a AK2i [HW88] to compare it to)

also, it's MicroSD slot is not spring loaded (it slides in like putting a MicroSD in a MicroSD to SD adapter, vs clicking in like a game cartridge)
this can be a good thing as the MicroSD will never eject from the slot failing to lock it in place and having the spring push it out.

Since you are from the U.S. (same as me), get one from RealHotStuff (the U.S. Site, not the .HK one)
I literally ordered one a week and a half ago and got it within several days after ordering. I have ordered stuff there before (my AK2i came from them also) and can vouch for them

sounds like a contact issue or bootloader corruption.

contact issues are extremely common with the ak2i, so i would assume that is the problem. i have read about contact issues causing the original AK2i logo to appear in place of the bootloader icon. another reason i feel it is a contact issue.

I'll definitely try all the methods to fix a contact issue, I just hope it works! Thanks :)
