I'm not sure what's happening. I'm softmodding his 4.3U Wii. And I'm using MauiFrogs guide to softmod any wii. I've used this guide on all the previous Wii's that I've modded and never had any problems, although the previous Wii's never allowed me to install bootmii as boot2. This Wii is the first time I've ever been able to select that option.

After I was done with Hackmii (everything installed successfully) I exited out to HBC. When I pressed the Home Button the option to "Launch Bootmii" wasn't there. So I rebooted the Wii figuring that it should autoboot upon startup, and it didn't. Then I edited the bootmii.ini file so that it wouldn't boot to the sysmenu, and still nothing. I either get stuck at a black screen upon booting up, or it just loads the Health and Safety disclaimer and goes straight to sysmenu.

I've tried running bootmii from apps like WiiXplorer and it just loads to a black screen and does nothing. I've tried two different SD cards, (one of which is my personal one that I've used for every mod and have never had problems with) so I'm skeptical of it being a card issue. Although I guess I can't count it out.

While in the Hackmii installer it showed to the option to uninstall bootmii as boot2, AND it also showed the option to uninstall bootmii as an IOS. I don't understand why it's showing me the option to uninstall bootmii as an IOS when I've never installed it to begin with.

His Wii is preowned, and neither of us are sure if anything has been done to it or not. I ran a syscheck to see if maybe you guys could figure out if anything's been done to it before. All I installed was HBC and bootmii as boot2.

Did you try uninstalling it and installing it again? Also I think you have to prepare the SD card before the installation, if I'm not mistaken, you cannot install bootmii as boot2 on 4.3.

I didn't. I wasn't sure if I could uninstall bootmii, and was worried that if I did it may cause issues. Is that safe to do? I had actually thought about uninstalling bootmii as an IOS since the option was available (I'm not sure why the option was available since I didn't install it) but I've always heard that it's not a good idea to uninstall IOS's.

What I was thinking about doing, since "bootmii as boot2" wasn't working, was to install bootmii as an IOS. Figuring that if for some reason it HAD been installed before, that there would be no harm in just installing right over it again.

I never thought about not being able to install bootmii as boot2 on Wii's that were 4.3. If that's true that could be explaining all my issues.

The other idea that we threw around was that since he picked up the Wii for used for 30 bucks... that we would just go ahead and continue with the mod anyway even thought he had no NAND backup. For the most part I'm aware of what's safe and what's not. So it doesn't seem like a huge risk. And he seems to be willing to take it. Although I would rather create a NAND backup of some sort.

I've uninstalled and installed bootmii as an IOS a lot of times and it always worked.

Try installing bootmii as an IOS first and try accessing bootmii.

Also I noticed cIOS 222, 223, 249, 250 and 254 are stubbed and those cIOS are needed for homebrew purposes as well, use mauifrog's guide to reinstall the cIOS if possible.

Yeah that was one of the things I noticed right away was the stubbed cIOS's. I'd think that if nothing had been done to the Wii before that those wouldn't even have showed up. Unless one of Nintendo's updates stubbed them.

And I just finished making a NAND backup with Bootmii as an IOS. So at least that worked.

Pretty sure that used Wii was updated when it was soft modded, thus bootmii said ''uninstall IOS'' but there was never any bootmii IOS to begin with, ok that's solved whats next, fixing those cIOS.

Yeah.. and I'd have no idea how to do that because I never had to remove IOS's.

Reinstalling them will be just as good, follow Mauifrog's guide and there's a spoiler that allows you to download his cIOS pack, just install all that with a wad manager and you'll be good to go. Be sure you have a nand backup before hand and install Priiloader ASAP.

For bootmii@boot2, Just remove the sd Card. and turn on the wii, if the DVD light flash 2 times Quickly that means he was sucefully installed, in that case Just remove anything related to bootmii, run hackmii installer and choose prepare sd card.

Continuing with the softmod guide worked perfectly. It installed right over the stubbed IOS's. We tested a bunch of things and everything was working the way it should. Thanks Yepi.

I noticed that.. I wondered why it was flashing. But it flashed twice every time we started up the Wii, regardless of whether or not the SD card was in the Wii. If it was a successful install I don't understand why it wouldn't launch bootmii.

if the light flashes but bootmii menu doesn't appear this means there's a problem with files in sd card related to bootmii, that's why i recommended remove old bootmii folder and files and replace by fresh ones created by hackmii installer. If that doesn't work too i suggest trying another sd.
