Oh how quirky and inept the internet can be. So, many of you have read or at least heard of Nintendolife and how their articles can be pretty decent at times. So to back up a bit, they, like many sites, have a strict policy where users cannot mention emulation at all, those who do are chastised by the staff. However, recently, they posted an article called "What Could Super Mario Galaxy look like in HD?" which, can only be achieved using Dolphin.

Article here: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/03/video_what_could_super_mario_galaxy_look_like_in_hd

But wait a minute, NL is the one that posted the video on YouTube correct? How very odd, seeing as they themselves are so very anti-emulation, surely, a site that wishes to retain its reputation would never stoop to emulation, right? Now, why is it all right for the staff to showcase an emulator, when the people who post there get in trouble for doing the same thing? What are your guys' thoughts on the matter? DO you think that game journalism and how sites are run are both poorly executed? I as a person, don't care what people do with emulators in their personal lives, yadda yadda yadda, but when a site that has rules that state its stance on emulation piracy then uses an emulator, it just seems off to me.

at no point do they mention emulation or that this has been achieved using emulation methods. i am sure this can be done with converter cables or one of those conversion box gizmos. there are tons of these for sale on amazon with a simple search........................sudeki300

If you put the YT-linked video in full screen, it looks too good for a converter to do that, most converters aren't that crisp AFAIK. They don't mention it, no, but many of the users on the video can tell it was done with Dolphin; scalers/converters don't do true HD scaling, the games don't look as crisp :P

I recommend full screen at the highest resolution, you can tell the internal resolution is scaled to full HD.

Upscaling =/= better looking picture, this is obviously upping the resolution of the textures which make it appear HD which is, at the moment, only available with Dolphin.

Also, who gives a bloody fuck.

Just pointing out that their staff is run by hypocritical douches, that's all, like IGN or Gamespot :creep:

I'm glad we're tackling the important matters here.

Maybe I'll make a Pokemon thread instead, that seems to be popular on the Temp, I think.

Methinks to the EOF this should go. Just trying to change up the pace from the influx of 3DS and Pokemanz threads :creep:

Well maybe they'll get away with it, seeing as how they do have such a strict stance on emulation. Or maybe they're playing the game on the Wii compatible section of the Wii U and saying that's its high definition. But yeah, that does sound odd.

Indeed. There's nothing worse than someone having a double standard.

Either or, the shake of a Wii remote can be mapped to a mouse and Xbox 360, PS2/PS3 controllers can be used; it's come a long way :P

NL post these articles to gain more website hits so they can gain more revenue, higher stats, better site ranking etc etc ...so they can use it as a selling tool ...it's all marketing BS!

No shit. While their articles aren't as bad as Gamestop's (mostly), their staff is full of arrogant pricks and berate people who go against their rules when they're clearly above the law.

yeah i know you can map all the wiimote gestures and buttons over to a pad, but it's trying to remember where they were mapped to during gameplay is the pain. most times i have run out of buttons by then and start making up obscure combinations that i never remember.................sudeki300

Or, a bluetooth dongle can be set up as well, that'd be the easiest solution.
