My brother has a 360, and I have my own gamertag on it along with some digital purchases. I plan on getting my own system soon, so naturally I want to transfer my stuff over. So I'll transfer the (console?) licenses to my system, and that's it.

But I have a question about the games that he owns digitally. Can he sign in on my console with his gamertag, and leave it there and I can still play his games on my account (and the other way around too)? Some sites say "it requires you to be signed into live on the non-original system" but I'm not sure if that means the console just has to be in online mode and signed in any account or if it means the account that owns the content has to be signed in.

tl;dr Is game sharing possible? I ask because I helped buy some things without planning on getting an 360 for myself...

Like, as it is now we can both play the other's games on the same console regardless of who is signed in.

Got my answer, it seems that the owner can play their games on any foreign console as long as it's them who is signed in. Darn!

Ok this is a bit hard to explain but here we go.

Ok when you download DLC, arcade, etc to an Xbox 360 using any account it can be played on that Xbox 360 from any gamertag. If you get your new Xbox and transfer the license and redownload all your DLC, then your brother will be then unable to play them on his Xbox 360. Heres an example, if I go to my brothers house and download minecraft using my GT then transfer it to my flash drive and take it to my Xbox at home then I can only play minecraft on my Xbox using my GT because I purchased it. However if I downloaded minecraft straight to my Xbox, then every GT on my Xbox would be able to play minecraft. So, if you want your brother to be able to play all the DLC you have then leave it on the first Xbox 360 for him and then when you buy your new one transfer (NOT DOWNLOAD) to your new Xbox and you will still be able to play all the DLC when your signed on to your GT.

The Xbox 360 you are currently using can play any DLC using any gamertag because it has the licenses. Once you download that same content to another Xbox 360 then the old Xbox 360 will no longer be able to play any of the DLC without the original gamertag that purchased the content.

I hope that explains it.

Not so fast. Gamesharing is entirely possible and I'll tell you how. The Xbox 360 using a licenses in order to tell who bought what on the Xbox 360 but if the Xbox 360 has the license for the content everyone on the Xbox 360 can play it. You're only able to change licenses once every 6 months (Not sure of the exact length of time.) so people couldn't hotswap accounts. However for your purposes it would work.

Leave your license on your brother's 360, that way he still has the content. Now when you get your 360 have your brother license transfer his account onto the 360. You'll still be able to play your games on your 360 as long as you're signed into your account and you'd still be able to play your brothers games as well. Same goes for him.

(The Xbox 360 does two types of verification that you "own" the game you boot. If the Xbox 360 has the license for the titles, then it'll boot. If the 360 doesn't have the license for the game then it checks if your profile has bought the game. If it has then it'll boot.)

Make any sense?

And to add to it.
Don't go around sharing your license with everyone.
MS can detect it and will detect it as piracy.

It's pretty much the same as the old non-JTAG exploit where people would share profiles and games.

If you keep it to 1 or 2 people/xboxes, then you won't have to worry about it.
