Today Microsoft has announced that their vice president responsible for the company's enterprise and cloud products has been named the new Chief Executive Officer. This ends the speculation of the follower for Steve Ballmer, who announced his resignation from the job. Below is the introduction from the letter Nadella sent to Microsoft employees.

Today is a very humbling day for me. It reminds me of my very first day at Microsoft, 22 years ago. Like you, I had a choice about where to come to work. I came here because I believed Microsoft was the best company in the world. I saw then how clearly we empower people to do magical things with our creations and ultimately make the world a better place. I knew there was no better company to join if I wanted to make a difference. This is the very same inspiration that continues to drive me today.

It is an incredible honor for me to lead and serve this great company of ours. Steve and Bill have taken it from an idea to one of the greatest and most universally admired companies in the world. I’ve been fortunate to work closely with both Bill and Steve in my different roles at Microsoft, and as I step in as CEO, I’ve asked Bill to devote additional time to the company, focused on technology and products. I’m also looking forward to working with John Thompson as our new Chairman of the Board.

Hmm. I wonder if he will continue down the path MS has been heading down and focusing more on massive enterprise to the exclusion of some of the smaller people.

I know I shouldn't judge by his appearance but it's not very self assuring.

-Strong, masculine pose
-Functional yet stylish glasses
-Knowing smirk
-Confidently casual shirt, with a pocket protector so you know he also means business

Everything about this guy screams "self-assured and in charge."

So...this isn't the guy who wanted to do away with the gaming division. However, is there anything known on what his ideas and convictions are? The letter he sent out is pretty nice, but not exactly revolutionary...

Great, another job outsourced.
What do you mean, outsourced? The guy worked for microsoft for 22 years. Are you seriously saying he just got to the office?

He's referring to how Satya Nadella is Indian, which frankly is something of a tasteless statement where a lot of work, especially as outbound telemarketing goes is outsourced to India.
The man is clearly accomplished if Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer would appoint him new CEO, here's hoping he leads Microsoft in a better direction than Microsoft has managed in the past few years, it's hard to speak positively about the latest iterations of their home and office operating system and software packages, mobile devices, gaming systems and services you've likely never heard of.

" I believed Microsoft was the best company in the world."

Okay...you obviously have a different opinion. But do you have solid arguments against them (like their strict top-down management style), or are you just a brainwashed "it's microsoft, therefore it is evil" lollerskater?

While the title of "best company" is pretty arbitrary (I don't think anyone worked everywhere to find out), it is no coincidence it often pops up in top 100 lists, top 10 or even a number one spot on reputable magazines.
