Hacking How to find if my Wii is the newer or the older version?

wiibrew said that newer Wiis(those can't be downgraded below 3.4) are ver4.0 out of the factory.
However, my Wii is a pre-owned and there's no way to contact the original owner.
My Wii is a GCN supported console with a serial number starting with LU62

Well, the "newer" Wii's were popularly called LU64+ consoles. While it's not a 100% match-up of serial number to whether the non-downgradable Wii's started being produced, with a LU62 you're fairly safe at least.

On the other hand.
This information is not really useful anymore since downgrading really brings you no benefit whatsoever (It's actually rather risky whether the console is compatible with it or not) Even if you have a 4.3 system menu the only thing you can't do is install DVDX (outdated by all means) and some older versions of HBC (which you'd probably best keep up to date anyhow) as well as the fact that by installing PriiLoader you can unblock those, too, and even make it still compatible with bannerbomb.

The real important differences are whether your drive can read normal DVD disks (Yours should be able to if it's that old.) and whether you can install BootMii as Boot2 or not (Which the best way to tell is just to run the HackMii installer which will tell you if you can install it or not.)

Thank you!I haven't checked if my wii could read backup disks or not,but judgeing from the Wii Drive chip database website it should be a D2C drive chip
BTW, what is DVDX?
Also, my Wii has boot1c which means no bootmii as boot 2, which sucks,I want to try out that legit SM1.0, but Dolphin is always crashing...

It's what they used to use to get full access to the drive. Now HBC will basically give that to you which is why it's not needed anymore.
