The only thing that can "Save Nintendo" (because they need saving and all what with the 3DS selling well and their billions of cash in the bank and billions of assets) is of course Startropics 3. When will the fat cats realise that fans want these titles no one really buys and that these will save them? WHEN???

Nintendo is far from needing any kind of last ditch effort. One bad year doesn't kill off a company like Nintendo, heck, if it did then there wouldn't be xboxs and playstations considering how much M$ and $ony were selling at a loss during previous generations.(I don't know about current, maybe they smartened up). I am kinda sick of people talking like its the end of the road for Nintendo, love them or hate them, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.


EDIT: To get back on topic, a pokemon MMO -could- be awesome, however IMO 99% of MMOs are botched pieces of crap.

considering that almost every single main entry in the Pokemon franchise is a 10+ million seller (like it or not)
a Pokemon MMO, if done right, could be even bigger than World of Warcraft.... and that means a lot of money
unfortunately, Nintendo doesn't count at the moment with the online infrastructure required to pull that off

It's not actually desired. People act like this is a universal thing wanted by the fanbase - it's not. It's not even worth trying to tell yourself that a Pokemon MMO will end up any better than the dozens of MMOs that have come and failed. I mean fucking The Old Republic failed and that's a MMO based on literally the most popular sci-fi franchise on the planet outside of maybe Gundam.

MMOs aren't just massive money sinks; they're huge time sinks. If you want to make a decent game, you're going to have to invest years upon years into development. Assuming Nintendo gets to work on this today, the game still wouldn't be ready for another 5-7 or so years, and by then the Wii U's success will be long settled one way or the other. Plus, that lengthy development time means that the end product can feel dated immediately upon launch.

It'd be a better use of Nintendo's time to just dump their cash in a pit and burn it.

There already IS a mmo for pokemon. It is called Pokemmo, and although it isnt official, its still an mmo based on the pokemon world.

Imo that would mean graphically acceptable, it doesnt need Crysis graphics, but nice and sweet graphics, maybe Cell Shaded/Wind Waker style, would suit Pokémon.
Open world, and I want ALL the Pokémon worlds from Kanto, to Jotho etc etc......
ALL the Pokémon should be in it, from Bulbasaur to....I dont know i havent been up to date with Pokémon anymore....
Some way of chat/interaction since that is going to be hard, but the game pad offers posabilities.
Stable servers....etc you get the point.

With that kind of game, Wii U sells would double.
