[UPDATE - MISTAKE!] GameStop cancels WiiU Watch_Dogs preorders [NOT TRUE!]

Italian Blog Wiitalia has posted a story that the Italian branches of GameStop have canceled all preorders of Watch_Dogs for the Wii U:

Last week, our reader received a call by a GameStop employee, saying that his previously preordered copy of Watch Dogs for Wii U was not going to be offered; therefore, our reader was advised to move the preorder to another game. Asking for reasons, the employee told him that Ubisoft scrapped this version.
Some days later, he went to another GameStop, in order to preorder again the game; even in this case, he could not do so, because Watch_Dogs for Wii U was not available in the store database.

Wiitalia tried to contact some GameStop store, and in each case the conclusion was one and just one: Wii U version of Watch Dogs is not available for preorder because Ubisoft canceled it. It seems that Wii U hardware and software sales played a role in this decision.

Ubisoft have been good in showing support for the Wii U, with them out of the picture it's not looking to good for Nintendo's home console with third party software.

The Futureshops and Bestbuy's here all have ads and "coming soon" cases for Watch Dogs on WiiU.

I forgot this existed and I won't be surprised if it got cancelled considering that the last Splinter Cell & AC games bombed on Wii U.

Aside from release at least one AAA game from themselves and just make every future 3DS game HD versions on the Wii U as well, I can't think of what else Nintendo can do. They have a turkey here, I love Nintendo to bits, they do things differently, they have a soul and the people who represent them are gamers but the Wii U...is heading downhill.

They're in a sticky situation now, release games for their handheld that is killing it or for their console that isn't...business sense says 3DS. Nintendo can usually survive a gen just by supporting themselves but the sales of their own Wii U games pale in comparison to what they did on Gamecube and even late Wii.

I'm surprised that people still shop at GameStop considering they're robbing their own customers.

for 2 reasons; and as a WiiU owner... a little salty and butthurt lol...


1) As mentioned above, wiiU was MADE for this exact gameplay style.
2) WiiU needs a game that actually uses the gamepad as a seperate screen, and not
something that mirrors or improves something else...




Id love to see a d&d game with the dungeon master getting the gamepad...

Implying that none of the retailers you mentioned above are doing the exact same thing (which they are, really). It's just how the trade-in business works - buy things below they're actual value and sell them over their actual value, that's how money is made. You can out rip-off if you'd like, but at the end of the day, those stores still provide people with great bargains and a way of trading in their old junk for someone else's old junk cheaply, which is always a good thing.

Why would you need any of that at all? From what I've seen so far, the game does nothing that couldn't be done in a GUI.

And you know the number of smartphone/tablet owners who also happen to own a ps3, ps4, 360, or xb1 greatly out numbers the amount of wii u owners

This is a really troubled title from what I've heard. For that reason, I thought it would be a good match for the WiiU.

Anyways, I hope this cancellation was for business reasons instead of ubi finding out at a late stage the port was technically unfeasible on the WiiU.
