i actually don't think it would be that long, judging from what smea has already achieved, he already must have a pretty stong basis for the development, once released i would say emulators would be some of the first thing done....maybe basic but still an emulator, if i remember correctly the psp had a gameboy emulator pretty much from launch

I also don't think it will take that long, but I think it would be too bold to give a shorter estimated time, since 3DS homebrew scene is giving it's first steps by now and I don't know if there will be any difficulties in doing a SNES emulator to 3DS, especially a full working SNES emulator. Special chip catridges have always given headaches to emulator developers.

If we can get an Snes emulator, with actual good sound emulation (unlike the DSTwo, PSP or other mobile devices) I will be one happy camper :P

Think no one will write an emulator from zero, some basic ports should be no big deal if most of the libs are ready. Especially Nintendo uses ARMv7 and there are some pretty good emulators for ARM out there...
Wish I could help smea with one thing or another but he seems way more smart than me though ^^

Funny you mention that.

Back in florida there were a few communities/subdistricts that I ran into where the sub-district actively prohibited pawn shops from accepting or hocking gaming merchandise... yet by a legal loophole, Gamestop was exempt. So the same neighborhood that couldn't legally have a pawn shop that carried gaming merchandise had like four gamestops... and because they effectively killed any kind of viable competition by absorbing their rival, they have/had an effective monopoly if you wanted to be able to get any kind of second-hand or rare goods.

I just know my luck in even finding a 3DS of any kind at a pawn shop has been next to nil thus far. I just hope it isn't the same kind of thing here in AZ where traditional pawn shops can't legally carry such goods or something.

You can always order by internet, and most of times, shipping is free.

yeahi understand there will no doubt be bugs to work out etc, but i would kinda class a emulator with no special chips features as pretty doable fairly quick there is plenty of source code available for working with, who knows it may be more difficult than anticipated, but i would be quietly confident of seeing a fairly functional emulator like a month or 2 after smea releases his work....i may be wrong it could be sooner, it could be later but that's what i would kind of expect it all just depends on how easy the 3ds is to code for with smea's tools

What was the sound problem with PSP SNES emulators? It always worked fine for me.

They're definitely lacking in accuracy compared to Snes9x since Blargg's SPC700 (cycle-accurate audio) core was implemented in 1.52, anything prior to that sounded bad. In fact, most PSP Snes9x emulators as based off of 1.43 I believe since 1.52 has a somewhat higher system requirement due to higher accuracy. Hmm....that gives me an idea. If the 3DS can handle 1.52, that'd be pretty sick :DGenesis/Megadrive can be done, we know that from M2's Sega Genesis 3D classics on the eShop.

But ordering through the internet has no guarantee whatsoever I'll get a vulnerable model.

Almost every piece of eletronic that I buy, I buy it online.
Beside that, Gateway Team provide new cards if you have a deffective one, Devin had it's card replaced pretty quicly.

Whoa, for real? What about his 3DS?

About deffective Gateway, yes, it's true. When Devin ordered his Gateway, to make a review, the blue Gateway card wasn't working, he contacted Gateway and they assured they would replace their deffective products at no cost. He sent his card and in a couple of days the new card arrived. About the 3DS, this is another case, it was bricked recently, since he have only used Gateway he probably could send it to repair at no cost, but I have not seen any news about Devin for a while.

I think you may be a little confused. I've never had a defective GW3DS. When I first got my review sample it was missing the blue DS flashcart and they sent me one. You might be confusing me with someone else.
