This news is a bit old but it hasn't been posted here at all so I might as well do the honors. I thought it was an interesting bit of news.

"Soulcalibur: Unbreakable Soul" has been trademarked by Namco Bandai in Europe, suggesting that the publisher has an as yet unrevealed Soulcalibur game in the works.

Reading through the trademark application tells us little about what Soulcalibur: Unbreakable Soul might be. Its approved uses suggest that this will be a new video game (or potentially an online service) but beyond that details are scarce. We've reached out to Namco Bandai for more information, but the company was unwilling to comment.

Looks like a new SoulCalibur title is coming soon. It can really be one of three things:

SoulCalibur: Lost Swords for the Xbox 360
A watered-down version of SoulCalibur V for the Vita or 3DS, similar to Broken Destiny
Another SoulCalibur Legends (which I would personally enjoy)

Doesn't look like this would be another full-length title, since those are usually titled with numbers, not sub-titles. What do you dorks think?

I don't see why the PSVita version would necessarily be considered "watered-down" - I was under the impression that with NetherRealm Studios' titles in mind, it was pretty clear that it's more than capable of pulling off the full-scale fighting game, albeit with less detailed textures and models. I don't think it's that though - if that was the case, it'd probably be called "Soul Calibur V: Ultimate" or something along those lines.

You know what I mean, another portable port of Soulcalibur with some new features slipped in. Yeah you're right, you can't water down SoulCalibur V, it already has fucking nothing.

Ehhhhh...I haven't truly enjoyed a Soul Calibur since like...3. I would be willing to try an actual Vita Soul Calibur though (BRING SOULCALIBUR 2 HD TO VITA PLX KTHXBAI GTFO).

Yeah dude, coincidentally I've been playing SC3 all last week, trying to unlock everything. That game had so much to do in it, and I loved all of the bonuses and what not. I really hope Unbreakable Soul is something worth playing. Who knows, maybe Namco is done spoiling Tekken.

As long as it has Talim they can do whatever else they want with it.
The title sounds more like a handheld game, which i'd like...if it has Talim.

My soul would be broken if it doesn't have Talim

This is why SCV is shit.

It does kinda sound like a handheld spin off which I wouldn't mind if it brought back really good single player content but otherwise I just don't see the point. The Vita is an excellent machine for fighting games, both on controls and library, and Soul Calibur would work fine on it, but I don't see myself doing much multiplayer on it.

That's discriminating for the 3DS =O
The 3DS has several good fighting games too. Well, I wouldn't mind if it was a multiplatform for handhelds, although the systems work completely different.

And V didn't have talim? Haven't played it yet.

Have you played a fighting game on Vita?
Vastly different compared to 3DS.
It's like the Vita was made for fighters.
