Hacking The Poll of Gateway Cards

Hi,

after that obnoxious thread we're trying to set facts straight here.

Voting isn't done in a poll. We're doing this right.

To vote you have to have a picture of your name with the gateway card(s) + 3ds console for us to display if it is bricked or not.

Reasons of this poll is to establish if people are just lying about Gateway - the ONLY devs who supports homebrew development on Nintendos 3DS. It be stupid by Gateway to do nothing else then make homebrew secure and safe to gain respect from users and customers.

it's way simpler if you put the rule that only those who got the brick with gateway and the unmodified launcher can post and must provide evidence. there may be too many people (including me) saying "I have gateway and everything's ok".

I, for one, Am still using it. It works. And I believe that it will STILL work as long as u use the official firmware

I feel like there only needs to be proof of bricked ones. I for one updated to 2.02b recently and have had no issues thus far.

I used Gateway after my SD card got corrupted (a light corruption where the files are visible but some of them can't be copied on a PC) and it didn't brick my 3DS.

To decrease confusion and too make others who Dont use Gateway known that owners of Gateway still has everything ok .. some of them

My gateway is still fine and I updated the night the newest firmware was released.


Gateway users should be fine as long as you are using their official Launcher.dat as it has fail safes installed, clone cards removed this check so it would run their modified Launcher which is part of the reason for the brick.


Post by json from a different thread explains it best:

The ROP chain has a sanity check that prevents corrupted Launcher.dat file from running the ARM9 payload, and the ARM9 payload is checked as part of the sanity check (so this prevents memory corruption from running the ARM9 payload).

So even with corrupted SD card, the launcher will just hang the 3DS. And when you reboot it is fine.

You can test it yourself. Take the official 2.0b2 launcher.dat file, and modify 1 byte. The 3DS will hang, and when you reboot all is fine. The ARM9 payload is blocked off from executing so no chance for brick.

I have tried and modify random different bytes and rebooted 30 times.
Result: My 3DS is not bricked

Normmatt's patches are specially crafted, because it neutralize the sanity check, and so it will get to run ARM9 payload which (supposedly) bricks (not confirmed myself).

My 3DS is working fine without any problems about brick or bluescreen, it's working with fw 2.0b2 Gateway3DS (No emunand) and i'm still waiting for Multirom support, i hope that it won't be delayed.

How many reported bricks have there been? (<30) Kindof a one sided poll here So if someone does provide proof to being bricked but 40 aren't what does that prove they are lying. Just curious

2 cards, on 2 3DS
both work fine. i really believe its clones/mods causing the errors.
nobody has been able to prove otherwise

I have yet to even find a youtube video of it
where it wasnt a clone, or modded launcher on the original.

simply put, gateway warned ppl about clones/mods, suffer the consequences.


and if the rumor is true about a hidden virus function in the official launcher to break clones
they have every right to protect their IP from thieves
and i dont feel sorry for clone users.

if they werent true clones, and the (R4) as an example really made thier own card
this wouldnt be happening.
