Does anybody know the key information to increase the possibility to find a firmware 4.5 or below 3DS LL? Is the 3DS LL that has low version firmware available on Amazon or Ebay?
Please help. Thank you!

Your best bet is to purchase a Limited Edition bundle that was released before the 5.0.0 firmware there are a number of those available, those were usually only released on day 1 and never re-edited, you however need to make sure you buy a brand new one as a second hand set could have been updated by its previous owner.

There are some online shops such as play-asia that sell some brand new, it's a bit more expensive though but that ensures you can get a pre 4.5.0 Japanese 3DS LL.

Beware that Japanese 3DS/3DS LL only have the display in Japanese, it doesn't bother me here, but others may complain about this.

Could you tell me what kind of bundle has firmware 4.5 or below 3ds ll?

You know I had great success posting an ad to craigslist saying I had $190 cash for a used or new 3ds 4.5 and lower. Took about a week to get a response but after I got the first one I got 3 more replies! I already had a 3ds and was able to find someone with a brand new 3ds fw 4.4 that they bought for their kids so the guy just traded 3ds with me for a free game for his kid! Before you spend up to $300 for a 3ds check craigslist by putting an ad up asking what you want. I found that asking people selling 3ds to check serial numbers or firmware either didn't respond or were rude about it..

For all those asking about the bundles I would say check the copyright date. If it says 2012 than it had to be made before the march 2013 update to 5.0. I don't know that I would trust a bundle set unless you know for sure that nintendo stopped making them before march 2013

ask the person your buying off they could check for you, asked before and got a quick response
you mean ask them if the copyright date is 2012?

In Japan, Limited Edition bundles are really Limited, knowing that they aren't produced again. That's why you stop seeing those in shops a couple of months after release. They aren't just regular 3DS with a game, they usually are custom themes 3DS sold for specific events (such as the release of a specific game, or some promotion at the Pokemon center)

Also I should add that the copyright on the box does not help, Nintendo reused a lot of 2012 boxes for its 2013 consoles, a lot of consoles in 2012 boxes are 6.x.x consoles.

so does animal crossing bundle or monster hunter 3G bundle definitely have firmware 4.5 or below 3ds ll?

this is a good site with great prices, and if i was going to get another 3ds i would get this one, coolest looking one in my opinion :) (plus it's 4.5 or lower)

i was looking to get another japanese 3ds, this time an LL one, and yeah, i was looking on lots and lots of websites etc, even checking out yahoo auctions (japan's ebay etc)
i didn't want to buy a retail one, just in case it came with a firmware above 4.5, since it would be a hassle for me to send back.

so i looked at limited edition ones and honestly all the sites i looked at, i got one from nippon-yasan for the best price. their website even says they might write the wrong value on the custom form, if you want, so you won't have to pay as much as normal on import in your country etc... :) this was a few months ago, maybe there are better places or deals, but yeah i recommend that site ha

I went to walmart and peeked through the glass looking for a 3ds with the correct serial number no luck then I went to kmart and out of 5 they only had 1 old one left

your best bet is to go to places that don't have a lot of traffic for consoles

cool :) if it was a normal one i would have done a hardware hack to get the nand, but, since it is limited edition i will only do it if i have to :) (and just dump the nand with gateway's launcher etc)
you should have gotten the black one with stars, i think that one looked awesome, i would have bought that one but it was more expensive at the time :)
but still, i got it delivered to my door, from japan, for cheaper than i could get one if i went to a store here... and it comes with a game and looks cool... no brainer for me

also, about the company, yeah, maybe it was a mistake, maybe NOT, but... i asked if they would 'bend the truth' for the value on the shipping label, and they did.
so, i didn't have to pay anything when fedex delivered it... but
i noticed it was not send to my name!... my address... but a different name. no problem really, must have been a mistake. if i never got it etc, it's not my fault, they would send me a new one, or paypal would sort things out.

and a few weeks later there was a letter from fedex... wanting me to pay some import duty on it! for around. they wanted me to pay around $20 or something.
but............ the letter wasn't addressed to me, it was addressed to the name on the box, so... ha :D (got another 3 letters since then, but, nothing they can do about it)
so, i'm not sure if the company but a different name because i asked them to say it was less value, or, if it was just a mistake... but whatever, their customer service was good, and i got my stuff :)

well, i think 'technically' you need to pay import duty on like everything you import, at least when it is over a certain value, i'm not sure exactly how the law works.
if you get the item without having to pay any duty, maybe it is just lucky and it slipped through the system. maybe they don't check EVERY SINGLE parcel etc. maybe they do.
maybe because i got mine shipped via fedex they were more routine? but either way,you can contact them, i think i did it as i was making the order, but surely you can just email them separately, and ask them what you can do :)

read number 7 - http://www.nippon-yasan.com/modules/faq/faqs.php :) send them a message
