Hi people, 2 weeks ago I bought a used 80GB fat PS3 for a 120dlls with 2 controllers and 5 old and crappy games that I'm trying to sell, and then I decided to also sell the system and get a slim one with rogero installed.

Now I'm getting an offer to trade me a used Vita with 10 PS+ games installed on the 8gb memory...
The dude says it's in good shape and the PS+ should last until march, he's gonna just leave it there.

I never had a PSP and already have a 3DS so I don't know if it's a good deal or not, what do you guys think?

playstation now launch on the vita in the fall so you can cloud play games on your vita.

You need 5mb/s internet for that though.

If you have that internet speed though I would go for the vita and then a ps4 next xmass :P

Also it depends if any games on the Vita is something you desire.
Check out www.reddit.com/r/vita for game recommendation and more. The vita community is really nice and helpful =)

ps+ is ONLY good till it expired or the account is deactivated

you do NOT need the system to deactivate the account

a used system with a pre linked account is not that good, unless you has full access(password and DoB, for that account) to the account that it is linked to

the seller can just change the password, end PS+ and deactivated after he sell the system to you
and the games will not work after that

So he gives the Vita and you give the PS3 Slim with Rogero installed?

It really depends on how much you paid for this PS3 Slim.
I paid a hundred for the Fat, which is the one I will be trading for the Vita, and then I'll buy the slim with rogero for around 200dlls from another dude.

The games it has are
GRAVITY RUSH
GOD OF WAR GHOST OF SPARTA
SONIC ALL STARS TRANSFORMED
WIPEOUT
UNCHARTED GOLDEN ABYSS
ODDWORLD STRANGERS WRATH

And a few indies, he says he will leave the PS+ as is for the remainder of his subscription, and half of those games come from PS+, so if I want to keep playing them, do I just have to get my own PS+?

Not exactly. He has to give you the entire account, because that's what those game are associated with. When PS+ expire you have to redeem subscription on his account (not yours) in order to keep playing them. Using your PSN account will mean losing those games.

If the ps+ subscription ends you can no longer play the games. To use or make a own psn account you have to format the vita. Losing all game's in the progress.

I would personally think the PS3 is worth holding onto more, great library to explore, few interesting emus, ps2 classics allows you to play some ps2 games on it, you have access to all psone games too, and there is some psp support too. As for the Vita, I reckon you could hold off for a while longer

I thought I could just enter another user and that would be it...

And the plan is to get rid of this ps3 so I can get a slim with all the best games already installed. Maybe I'm better off selling it for around 200, then buying the slim.

The vita only allows one account linked to it at a time. It has always been like that and never going to change. Not to be mean but the very fact that you know so little about the vita means you should not take this deal (which is a scam honestly). The person knows you're not knowledgable about the subject and is really trying to rip you off.

Even if it allows multiple accounts like PS3 it still doesn't help in this case.

OP has to redeem PS+ on seller's account in order to keep the game.

5mb/s? Source?

PS Blog
Matthew Harper on January 7th, 2014 at 11:26 am said:
We recommend a 5MBPS+ connection. In our internal tests, users with this bandwidth or greater have been enjoying a low latency, high-quality gaming experience. PS Now tests your connection of each game and optimizes for quality if you are above the minimum requirements. We strive to make the gameplay experience feel as if the game is being played locally on their device – fast and responsive (including for FPS and games with twitch mechanics). The Closed Beta will definitely provide a great opportunity to test the experience with gamers with varying connection speeds and our developers will, of course, be working diligently to optimize the service based upon the feedback we receive from the community.

it depends.

if you have access to a PC, the majority of vita's good games (indie ports) are available to you at the fraction of the cost.
if the PS3 you are getting is a 3.55 model, then yes. its a no-brainer. huge back catalogue, free games, no online play but given the HUUUUGE back catalogue, you won't have time anyway.
if you haven't played many PS3 games and can easily snatch the games second hand, then yes.

my honest opinion of the two consoles is that the Vita will never the match the library or enjoyment a PS3 will give you. the fact the ps4 is not backwards capable only strengthens the purchase of one. I don't have faith is playstation now to offer even 1/10th of the PS3's best games in the next two-three years so its a very worthy investment.

the vita has one masterpiece (persona4g) and some very good games, then some very good indie games but after that, not enough good RPGs have been ported over. the Vita is going to eventually be a playstation accessory IMO with remote play and playstation now. as a gaming device by itself, i just can't see it beating or even challenging in the next 3-4 years a PS3 in anything other than portability. by the time the PS Vita become a must-own console with a strong back catalogue, it will be very cheap.

However you also need to fact in this is probably the worst time to trade a PS3 unless its a 3.55 as with the Ps4 dropping, price drops will be everywhere. its probably better value to buy unless you're getting offered 2 controllers + charger + games/3.55

ISP measure speed in bits per seconds, no one measure Internet speed in bytes per seconds
Yeah, I was a bit confused because the post I quoted read 5mb/s and usually this means megabytes. Gotten that out of the way, converted to megabytes will be 0.625 MB, which is slighly below my internet speed. I guess this would mean I get an "ok" picture quality.

If you can watch Netflix or similar real time video streaming, then speed is not an issue. The only issue is latency (ping time).

After reading everything I decided to not trade it for a vita, but sell for a little less than I will be paying for the one with CFW.
I think it's a good deal because I originally got 2 controllers and 5 games and I'm only selling it with 1 controller and the 3 games I don't like.

And about the one I will be getting, I have a few questions...
Assuming it's been updated to play the newest games, is it possible to play my retail games online? I'm interested in the Little Big Planet games and those would be pointless if I don't have access to download new levels and such.

And would I still be able to use things like Netflix, Youtube and those apps? I forgot to ask the seller if he already has them installed.

And thanks for everyone that's been replying!
