Another option would be to disable all WiFi-related features if you don't care about not being able to access the eShop, etc. Other than that, no real way. Or filter the IP address from the router settings.

Related but slightly different question, any way to turn off the WiiU's internet without completely deleting the settings in the WiiU? I don't like to have it trying to connect all the time, but also don't like having to re-enter the WPA password every time I do decide I do want to connect.

So my family doesn't get on and update it without my permission. When an update comes out, I'll come straight to here to make sure it's safe.

Well as theres no hacks in the wild .. who knows whats safe and what isnt.. right now it doesnt really matter.. but i guess each to their own.

But it sure would suck to update, then a week or two later hear there's a new hack that requires you to have not updated. Happened to a lot of people with the original JTAG hack on 360. Only pure luck stopped me from having updated mine.

I am also interested how disabled the auto update.. I found a temporary way is to disable the download manager on every boot console. This is especially since I sold my old wii so now i hacked my wii mode.

tbgtbg: Luckily for me I had the glitch hack.

Add or remove a character on the SSID. For instance, I change mine from "3702B" to "3702" and add the "B" back whenever I want to use the internet.

Thats only a solution for diasabling internet connection temporarily, but no solution for the auto firmware update problem. At the moment you're online and there are any updates available, they will be downloaded in the background and installed when you restart your wii u - even if your're not online then.

I gave a solution to the post I quoted, not to the OP. Please re-read.

So how do you disable the download manager then?
