What do hate/don't like the most about the gaming industry Lately?.

I don't like the fact that if a game company make a game in the japan or usa, and its sell well, then decides to make a sequel , but the sequel never makes it outside japan or usa... you just wasted my gaming experience for part 2!.

Whats yours?

Paying for multiplayer online gameplay. That's why I stick with nintendo.

I also don't like paying for dlc, they should give everything right from the beginning. If they want to add dlc later then it shouldn't cost anything since you already bought the game.

All the stuff companies make you do before you can even play your own friggin' game. Take "Trials evolution gold edition"...one of my pickups on a steam sale. By itself, it's certainly a fun game. But here's what youtube DOESN'T show you...

me: hmm...this game looks fun. I'll play it. :)
me: *clicks on 'install' in steam and goes of while it's downloading and installing*
<later>
me: all right...let's play. :)
game: performing installation of directx
me: yeah...just like all other, and more recent, games that do exactly the same. It's okay. Go do your configuration thingy.
game: now downloading uplay...from the slowest server on the internet
me: eh? I bought this game on steam. And where are you installing the thing anyway (as it turns out: it's on my c-drive...which I want to keep to pretty much just the OS)
game: now installing uplay. See this progress bar? It'll install THAT slowly.
me: are you kidding me? This is a brand spanking new pc. why the hell is it going to take LONGER THAN THE FRIGGIN' INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS ITSELF???
game: I'm not telling you!!!
me: *sighs* *goes off to play some solitaire*
<later>
game: now click here.
me: jeez...finally...some action...
game: now updating uplay
me: are you kidding me? why the hell did you just (okay...20 minutes ago) download an outdated version of yourself? and what was all that "installing" thing, then?
<more time passes>
game: please log in with your uplay account...or register for free!
me: aw, FUCK! Just...you better be good, game. Or else...!
me: <registers...fiddles with mail...the whole thing>
game: you can now play trials evolution gold edition
me: am I supposed to say "thank you" right now?
game: now updating trials evolution gold edition
me: AAAARGH!!!!

I don't get it. I really don't. The game itself is something typically to play when you've got a few mates over and you're all drunk as hell and want to have a laugh. It's kind of like CLOP but with better graphics. It's fun and hilarious at times*...but all that shit surrounding it really messes it up (I played it yesterday for the second time...it AGAIN needed a lengthy download for no reason whatsoever). Oh, and if you idle too long, you're no longer connected to the server and your COMPLETELY SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE can't save the medals you've earned anymore.

*I don't often hate the character I'm playing because he's a complete dolt, but this one is a noticeable exception. At least the programmers feel the same way and humiliate or downright kill your character at the end of each course. :P

Can't say I can get behind that OP. If a game did not function as a standalone exercise then how could it have been a good game?

More content being made for a game is bad now?

CoD. I hate it with a passion. And All the Wannabes Gamers that appeared thanks to the gaming becoming more and more mainstream
Because being a gamer was hard to begin with? That sounds suspiciously like "OMG casuals" and my policies on that are known.

Anyway the piss poor nature of game industry accounting (their attempts at Hollywood accounting make me say "aw, look at the kids"), the piss taking nature of jobs within it ("but you are working in a magic entertainment industry"), the piss poor nature of the academia surrounding it and the piss poor nature of games journalism (not that more mainstream journalism has all that much to be proud of these days but the gaming stuff can not even seem to get the fundamentals down, just to be clear though I am OK with bias).
Now I am not sure what quite feeds from what but it all combines to make a horrible community surrounding computer games.

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
AI assisted game creation might become a thing
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.
