This is from Katsukity's Blog. If you don't know who Katsukity is. He's the one that make 3DS & 3DS XL Capture Cards.

Here's the Quote:

Testing the 2DS

I'm testing the 2DS.
I acquired a 2DS that I don't even know why they released.
It runs.
The capture is stereo sound. They don't have a plan to release it in Japan, so it's only an overseas version.
It seems Japanese region cartridges work.

The box.

De-assembly.

Testing the 2DS.

Thank you for your orders.

Is that an Australian 2DS? It's extremely hard to read the serial code from the picture.

He used a DS game... are those not already unrestricted on any 3DS as well?

I don't see why this even belongs in "Hacking and Homebrew", it's literally just a fact -- DS games are not region-locked.

Depending on whether the games were DSiEnhanced or not, this could mean a lot... or nothing. Standard DS games aren't region locked, only DSi/DSiEnhanced ones are. Moreover, DS Sandbox and 3DS Mode are separate entities altogether... That being said, I'm still interested.

I've tried a DSi enhanced game (pokemon black JP), nothing appears on both my 3DS XL and 2DS (euro version).

Japanese DS games works fine on both systems.

Still stupid that DSi enhanced games does not work AT ALL on DSi/3DS from another region, yet they work fine (except DSi features) on DS/DSlite, Nintendo could at least let you use the games without the DSi features on every systems. :(

EDIT: (you can actually play them with an action replay)

super mislabel title
the post look to be about a 2ds cap card the you mod the system to use
like the this

That's Loopy's Board. Loopy buy the PCBs from Katsukity. Not to mention that Loopy doesn't update his anymore and only have or had services for the original 3DS. While Katsukity have a DS, DS Lite, 3DS, 3DS XL, PS Vita and now 2DS.

Loopy can't even get the sound over USB to work on his.

DS games are region free... very misleading topic. No way Nintendo would make a blunder by making the 2D region-free when they're still actively being adamant about region-lock.

God, why don't people ask about this stuff in the noob thread first before claiming something to be X without actually knowing what's going on? It's (not very well, sadly) known that "a 2ds" is just another 3DS revision, just like a 3DSXL; these 3 use the same firmware, so unless it's an special system like those for developers, no way one of these could "be region free".
