Hacking HELP! "An error has occured" @ Update DS Settings stage (r4i deluxe)

Hi guys,

I just got this r4i deluxe for my nephew as a Christmas present and wanted to load a game on a microSD for him so he can start playing tomorrow but I can't seem to be able to make it work.

Here is what I did:

1) Downloaded WOOD R4 V1.64 from the r4ids.cn website and copied the files into a microSD card
2) Downloaded Firmware 3.0 and put the Launcher.dat file on the root of a SD card
3) Put the microSD into the blue card; did the "3DS Setup" step
4) Put the SD card into the 3DS SD card slot
4) Clicked on Settings > Other Settings > Profile > Nintendo DS profile

... I get a message that says "An error has occurred, forcing the system to close. The system will now restart"

I think that's when things went sour. I click on OK to restart, change the blue card for the white one (with a microSD card containing a game) and the DS won't recognize it. I only get a "There is no card inserted into the game slot" error.

Putting a real game in works, which makes me think the 3DS was not in "gold" mode.

I have tried everything (changing SD, microSD, using firmware 2.0, etc.) and nothing seems to work!

3DS would not show that message if it went in "Gold/Gateway" mode. What firmware is your 3DS?

Firmware is 6.3.0-12u

Thats your problem... it only works on 4.x not anything above that.

Only works on 4.1.0-4.5.0.

Uh, yeah. It only works on version 4.1-4.5.

I got this 3ds years ago but we always update it... does that mean that I shouldn't have?

Yeah, sorry. Keep your cards though, maybe in the future it will support 6.3.
