A lot of people are talking about how Nintendo sales are low and what it needs to do to increase sales etc and I'm thinking more and more people will do as I did and choose a Wii U.

Of course the new Xbox One and PS4 are more powerful than Wii U, but then again why would I need that much? PS3 has already pretty good graphics and Wii U benchmarks better than PS3.

I believe current games won't make any much on Wii U or PS4 or XONE, so I thought to myself why not get a Wii U and make my 3-year-old boy happier.

Don't get me wrong I like XONE, in fact I plan on buying one after April 2014 (Titan fall reviews and other releases), but now Wii U is the only alternative.

PS4 and XONE and very similar (some prefer PS others like myself prefer XBOX, but makes little sense to get both) and Nintendo was as always innovative with their system, Perhaps too much that they confused the general population in thinking it was in fact and accessory. I believe Wii U sales would be higher if the system was called anything else, Even WII 2.

The console exclusives and the family oriented games really did it for me. That's probably what XONE/Kinect lacks (hope they release nice kinect 2 games soon), but that wasn't the only reason. If you, like myself, live in Brazil you know that games are much more expensive here, but Nintendo's eShop is just very easy to use with a canadian or american account, so I can buy digital games for the same price as americans or canadians. Just as a comparison XONE and PS4 titles here cost 100USD

Anyway I just wanted to share my experience with you guys and let you know that I don't regret one bit my decision. I got a Wii U with 6 games for the same price of an XONE with no game.

As some like to say if you have virtual friends get an Xbox, if you have real friends get a Nintendo and if you have no friends get a Playstation :)

Cheers.

Even if there won't be a significant graphical difference, that's not the only thing that improves. More computational power means you can have more entities, better AI, bigger areas etc.

I know literally 0 people with an Xbox in real life and quite a bunch with a PS3, so whatever.

Same for me, man.

The Xbox and PS4 don't have any current or upcoming exclusives I am overly interested in. It seems like the vast majority of games being published on those platforms are coming to PC as well, and for the little that I play, I will just mess around to get them up and running on my (now older) gaming PC instead of spending a ton of money on a console.

The Wii U, however, has Nintendo games, which are exclusive, and which I also love, so I got that.

A reviewer I watched summed it up pretty well (paraphrased):

"The Wii U is the last dedicated console. I has unique features, gimmicks, and games that make it a decidedly 'Nintendo' console that exists only to play games. All other modern consoles are a mash-up of many different features that have made them less of a unique console and more of a generic living room PC.

In short, the Wii U is a Nintendo console for people who like Nintendo. If you are looking for something other than that, you should look elsewhere."

I got a Wii U as well. I kinda hated it when it was released but when the PS4 and XONE came out, I started making comparisons and now I love the Wii U.

I couldn't help it. I just want to play Mario 3d World, Mario kart 8, Smash Bros. and of course the Wind waker (even though I'd already played it in the gamecube years).

Hope you have fun with the Wii U, I have like 80 360's games and they're there lying under my bed...and I have a few nintendo Wii U/Wii games/Snes games/gamecube games and I still enjoy playing them. =D I guess for me it's better to have a couple of games I could replay many times, rather than a bunch of games I only play once...

Um, I heard the opposite actually. I heard eShop games are often cheaper in Brazil compared to US. My youngest brother has to use the brazilian eShop because he lives in Singapore which doesn't have eShop content (though that may have changed since he got the 3DS), and any debit/credit card will work on the brazilian eShop unlike the others. I checked the price of Mutant Mudds there and it was pretty similar to the US one.

That's just a joke. I know a lot of PS3 owner and X360. I had both btw. Anyway I guess my point was that Nintendo consoles are usually more social, meaning you play with real friends at your house.
You are right that more power means better AI etc. Like I said I plan on getting a XONE after April, but right now I don't see the appeal. PS4 I don't see myself ever buying.

Good choice, I say screw all the Nintendo naysayers. Let them have their Call of Duty's and their Gears of War. Even though Nintendo releases franchise games that are similar to previous iterations at least there are distinct differences and innovations. I personally don't care for Sony this generation and I've never cared for Microsoft so as far as I can tell I'll be sticking with the company that makes fun games with unique and interesting stories.

Unique and interesting stories? Nintendo? I think your definition of unique and/or interesting might be off a bit.

Now all you have to do is get your friends to get Wii U too. I bought a Wii U at launch, and I am responsible for two of my daughters friends getting Wii U too.

Same with me. I hated Wii U at launch, but it grew on me! I too am anxious for Mario Kart 8 and other exclusives.

There isn't a brazilian eshop for Wii U, it has no titles. 3DS I don't know... I assure you prices here are much higher. Take PS4 for example. Here is the most expensive PS4 in the world costing almost 1800USD.

Funny you said that. I just talked to a friend that decided to get a Wii U after talking to me. :) I guess Nintendo did a really bad job marketing this console, because it seems to me that it exceeds expectations for most people.

Yea, Nintendo didn't do a good marketing job. I waited in line to purchase my Wii U at the midnight launch. I think the store had 8 black and 5 white Wii U at launch, there were 2 white consoles left over after everybody in line made their purchase.

Atlus?

I love Nintendo but unique and interesting stories is something I have never associated with them.

Recently talked with my bro in Idaho, and he got his family a Wii U bundle for Christmas (yay, someone else in my family with one!). He did talk about how Wii U didn't seem to be doing well (he isn't as informed about video game politics as I am), but he did mention that nothing on the PS4/XB1 piqued his interest, both on an individual and family basis, whereas Wii U did on both accounts, which is why he made that decision. As much as the PS4/XB1 are a decent upgrade from PS3/360, it seems they are just more of the same, like upgrading your video card in your computer, whereas Nintendo has actually made an effort to try something different that doesn't revolve around simply upgrading components. That's just my opinion.
