smea's exploit is for systems with a fw <= 4.5. there is no such thing as a 2ds with a firmware that low. for the 2ds to be hacked, a new exploit will have to be found.

that exploit wasn't a kernel exploit, so it's usefulness is pretty limited. the purpose of that was to use it as a launch point for neimod's other exploit (the kernel exploit he said he won't release, which may or may not be the same exploit used by gateway and smea)

Yea but another kernel exploit could be found sooner or later, I doubt Nintendo's firmware is securely locked up without any chance of a exploit happening >.>

Several people have noted that unlike the GBA and DS era we now have many, often more powerful, open handheld platforms to code for with things like Android being the obvious one. Indeed android and IOS put a fairly large dent in DS homebrew development.

It doesn't change anything for me, at least. I would actually prefer a smaller community, since unlike Android or iOS, we could actually make things that haven't been done to death already (e.g. Android has at least a hundred Twitter apps, 3DS has zero).

neimod never said somewhere, which game it is and he don't have a "secret" kernelmode exploit or something. Don't talk shit here. All known kernelmode vulns are fixed in 5.X. No other vuln exist to date. They all look for new vulns since more than a year and no one found anything. The savegame vuln is only a entrypoint, nothing more. The same, mset haxx was in 1.X-6.3.

Btw: Not sure, who found the savegame vuln first, but both yellows8 and neimod use it.

I'm sure someone will find another Vuln sooner or later, no one will right now due to the fact most people have given up hope are to lazy to continue looking, it took a while but the ps3 signing keys were eventually found a few months back so who's to say no one will find another vuln, are you from the future? Are you familar with the internals of the 3DS? No? Then don't guess things. How long promised Gateway, they will support firmwares >4.5 and nothing happened? They said in their E-Mails it would take up to "3 weeks", lol.

Well I'm crossing my fingers for an exploit for 7.0 seeing I only have a 2Ds and it's only worth the 99.00 I got it for from Wal-Mart >.>

If you keep your fingers crossed till a 7.0 exploit is found, You will end up with Arthritis, considering the usermode exploit is patched now too, You will be reliant on a unreleased savegame exploit and a new unfound kernelmode exploit, I can see GW just continuing with the EmuNAND path, Just like the PS3 to this day (Bar ODE's) still has a 3.55 entry point, and its been years

Ofcourse, 7.0 is not the end, but it can take a few years until Nintendo makes new big fails. And don't forget, you need a usermode and kernelmode vuln. Both don't exist for the public (The "for the public" is related to other known usermode vulns) on 7.0 and the only known usermode vuln requires special steps to get it work, which can't be done by normal users.

If something new comes out later, it will never again work so easy. Keep that in mind.

Yea I know you have to go into the 3Ds's system itself to do the vuln but can't a program be made that you can put onto your SD card that does that for you once someone figures it out correctly? If a program could be made then atleast a usermode vuln is available until a new kernel mode exploit comes into existence for those on 7.0.
