Aside from the lack of more than 4GB per file support, until now, I believe every trimmed ROM can be stored on FAT32.

I just ordered a 32 gb and then I saw this lol. I am feeling optimistic though. I have a 16 gb from my old flash card that I might just swap out in the mean time if 32 doesn't work. Thanks for the heads up though, won't be as disappointed if things fall through.

Edit: your post says >32, I assume that probably was meant to be greater than or equal, but if not than 32 might be more likely than it seems.

The card works, the problem is having a bigger than 4gb rom on it cause of the file system.

Do you mean more than 4 gbs of roms or a rom bigger than 4 gb? Are there games that are bigger than 4 gb?

Would a 16 gb be able to hold the full 16 gb then or would it have similar issues

i wonder if gateway could somehow build a ds mode launcher into a new firmware, so that we could play ds mode games from the 3ds sd card

I mean a rom bigger than 4gb, don't know if there's any yet :P and the 16gb one will have the same issue as the card will have to be formatted in fat32 to work with the GW.

The funny thing is, FAT32 supports partitions of up to 8 TB. It's just that the built-in partition tool in Windows only supports 32 GB partitions for FAT32 for some unfathomable reason. Use a different tool and you can format a 64 GB card to FAT32 no problem. You're still stuck with the 4 GB file size limit, though.
