Do you even need hardware mod since you are gonna be updating the emunand can't you just back it up and copy it back if it fails.

mind explaining this? are you talking about using another SD card than the one you already use? Not sure what you mean by that. I though the EMUnand was system side.

uh, you are right. as long as it's emunand there's no problem.
unless they found a way to forcibly deactivate it, thus installing the update on the sysnand (improbable, since the system we use is still 6.3 or lower, so nothing should change in the update process).

you use the one you already using
use Win32 Disk Imager (the program you use to write roms)
make a Backup image of the SD card with the "Read" function
and then you can write it back if it doesnt work after the update

Real NAND is inside the console.
EmuNAND is the one on your SD card (hidden partition on SD).

Make a copy of your SD card
update to 7.0, test.
If EmuNAND on 7.0 doesn't work you can still restore your EmuNAND 6.3 backup to your SD card.

About EmuNAND, it's just like Pong said, just back up your SD,
test it, and it has any problems you simply erase your SD and Copy back the data you backed up.

The eShop is down for maintenance for like 9 more hours. Wait at least until it's back up again before drawing conclusions

that will work for the emunand. but i wouldnt be surprised if nintedo found a way to update te real nand instead of the emunand.

EU E-shop is working fine like it was all day today for me and my 3ds is an EU one. I checked my 3ds like an hour ago.

Maybe it is down right now?
