So they lost money 2 years in a row after making money for how long?
Please compare that to the Xbox brand and Sony and show me how Nintendo is headed for impending doom?
There are several factors at play, who wants to go in to those details, not me.
Nintendo has plenty of cash to where having a couple of losses is not that big of a deal. It is not as though their consoles were money pits. Wii sales slowed down but it still made plenty of money overall.
The second year of losing money was less than the first year. (I looked in to it a little and I see their Net Income was actually positive for the most recent year after the one year of being negative...whatever the case it is not as if Nintendo is about to collapse or anything of the sort. "Nintendo's net income was positive for 2013, improving from a shortfall of 43 billion yen ($430 million) to a surplus of 7 billion yen ($70 million).")
Historically Nintendo losing money was a big surprise however. Sony losing money and Xbox losing money is not.
