Hey guys,

there is a rumor currently floating around from resellers that the clone cards are not hardware updatable and that R4i team is getting rid of stock at cheap prices u are currently seeing for that reason.

The R4i team is supposedly working to design new hardware but everyone currently getting old clone card hardware is getting stiffed right now ! :!::!::!:

Prepare for lack of updates my friends!! BE WARNED!!

It's only that: a rumor. Unless we hear directly from the R4i team, this is only speculation.

It is spreading like wildfire though and multiple resellers are saying same thing, pump out the cheap clones, work on 1:1 copy while you $$$ in off the shit

Ok so lets ask them? I doubt they will admit it, as they will be laughing all the way to the bank once they sold their stock

I have it on particularly good authority that it's most likely not true. This team has been around for a very long time with a proven track record for reliability; all you are doing here is slandering their good name. For a member with thirty posts, joined a little over three months ago, you come with pretty wild accusations, and if you want credibility, you better back up what you are saying.

if you want proof you can check the JTAG pins on the carts.. they are not wired for a 3DS/DSi/DS

Thats the beauty of living in a free world, people can say what they want/think/know when they want, microsoft and apple are big "well respected" companys (albeit they dont send out free samples) and they are both dodgey as hell, Just because 1 person respects a group/company for whatever reasons, doesnt mean everyone does :) Also time and posts mean nothing, so if an actual member of the team joined today and posted info, since its his first post and only joined today, what he says isnt valid at all ?? But if i joined years ago and spammed 1000s of bs posts what i say is more valid ??? And he is only passing on info he obtained, its not like out of the blue he decided to come up with a make believe far fetched story, certain resellers are saying that is why the carts are sooooo cheap, makes business sense to me, alot of people love cheap knock offs any day of the year

Didn't they already have an update? Meaning it's update-able? Frankly R4I Team have been great over the years.

the launcher isnt a hardware update, they are talking about the actual cartridge itself, but until there is solid proof, it should be treated as no more than a rumour

Found 2 sealed 3DS units for me and my brother. They both had C2012 on them! :) Firmware 4.4

Just went out and ordered 2 of these R4i 3DS Deluxe Edition cards. They are sooo cheap for under $38.

Cannot wait to try them.!

I dont see why no hardware update would matter anyway, as we are still stuck on 4.1-4.5 and arent updating anytime soon, so whether they could or not.... would it even matter, its all about the launcher really, possibly waay later down the line if cards block and we are able to run on latest firmwares, only then would it really matter if the hardware is updatable or not, Can gateway be hardware upgraded ?? I notice in the actual email, they dont say a thing about hardware at all, just about the upcoming version of the launcher/firmware, Why didnt they just say, our card is or isnt updatable, this isnt about their v3.0, its about whether their hardware in the cart is updatable at all, that email reply makes me think its not, as they instantly redirect to their firmware and about slander, no actual answer

I think you're confused about things.

Update = software

Upgrade = hardware

It's also ridiculous to think a flash cart is upgradeable. What are you going to add to something that's less than a square inch in size and has no ports?

Um, what happens to carts that get blocked and updated to work again, Hardware as in the the card itself, the software side here is the launcher, i do know what im talking about, obviously you are expecting a micro usb port or something, but updates to flashcarts have been around a while..

As of right now, yes, we are stuck on the firmwares v4.1-4.5. That much is guaranteed right now until an exploit or hack is released to take advantage of the later firmwares. As of right now as things stand, all of these cartridges are technically on an even footing, with the major winner possibly being declared when the respective firmwares release. Hardware upgrades are most likely going to be way down the line, and as of right now, with such a limited firmware release window, it's not even that important. We can very much worry about that when the new exploit, if any, is released.

EDIT: tHciNc when you're talking about "hardware," are you in a way referring to how the Supercard DSTwo is immune to firmware updates, in a way? Updates to flashcarts are software based. The update isn't going to magically alter the internals of these flash carts... I feel like that's what you're getting at, but I feel like I am missing something due to a bit of vagueness in your own response... :(

Exactly Ryukouki, even if they are/arent upgradable, it will probably be a long while before it will have any relevance, and if we never get off 4.1-4.5, it will have no relevance at all, and Im referring to the software in the cart as the hardware to stop confusion with the software launcher, and thats what the op is getting at, the software inside the cart isnt upgradable, sorry for the vagueness lol
