If you are a Game customer and you made a pre-order,it's highly advised hat you check your order, the whole getting it sorted is a pain in the ass too, you use their contact form and you have to wait a long time, you use their live chat and you are put in a queue for several hours, then get kicked and sent to the contact form and their phone service is a computer.

Tbh, I like their pre-order bonuses, but when they don't any bonuses, Amazon is the way to go for me.

This. Only reason I ever order from them is because of pre-order bonus or exclusive special editions. When they nearly went under, I really hoped that would prompt the publishers to give the special editions to better companies, but nope. Still GAME get most of them.

I don't even get why they do it. The publishers are forever going on about used game sales, yet insist on giving exclusives to the biggest pusher of used games. Madness.

I personally love shopping at GAME. If there's a good way to quickly get loads of games to play than it's GAME's "Buy X Get X Free" deals. Whenever I'm in the UK I always come back with truckloads of games without overpaying, so I'm not one of the GAME-haters crowd. They definitely kick the living daylight's out of CEX, both in terms of offers and general customer service, that's for sure (CEX return policy... ugh... Do not want to go through THAT again).

Amazon is not a bad choice in terms of prices, but ShopTo is the way to go :D
Good prices. When you pre-order, items arrive well before release date. In average of 1-2 days early.
I think I received Animal Crossing 3 days early.

I havent bought anything from game in a while, but I can command on their customer services.. I feel like I am serving them, instead of being served by them.

I like GAME as they've been my main store for games and consoles all my life but it seems someone majorly messed up here and im betting its because they tried to keep a few of the consoles to themselfs for store sales or something and so they screwed over a bunch of people who pre-ordered early online. I doubt every customer has an issue with credit card changes. But man... whoever is running the gamedigital twitter account has got his/her work cut out tonight, its packed with people moaning and demanding them renew the preorders.

It'd probably be more likely that they aren't receiving enough units to match the pre-orders. Suppose we'll have to wait and see how they respond to this though.

You poor thing.

It does the job. I live in a town where GAME is quite literally the only store that sells games. If GAME dont have it then i have to hope its at sainsburys, thats how bare it is for buying games here. I do use amazon occasionally but i bought a brand new Vita from them recently for £140 with the 10 game mix that included LBP. Not even amazon could match that price at the time.

Also if anyone fancies following the rage of customers on twitter, then you can follow it here

I never really liked GAME. I've never met a member of staff that knew what they were talking about (no offence emigre ;)). Also, they bought Gamestation, took away everything that was good about them (e.g. competitive prices) and then ran themselves―and, consequently, Gamestation―into the ground. GAME were saved, but Gamestation doesn't even exist anymore. Still, sometimes they have good offers: I bought my Fire Emblem 3DS XL for £159.99 brand new earlier in the year when everyone else, including Amazon and ShopTo, was selling it for £199.99.

These days, I call it the "Shop of Unrelenting Disappointment", because I go in hoping to see some good deals and always come out empty-handed and just buy virtually all my games from Amazon.

They have a return policy? Then they're already a step ahead of most stores here.

Sure, except said return policy is just a bunch of unnecessary and frankly offensive hoops you have to jump through. To return anything in CEX, you have to:
  • Apply for a CEX Membership Card (...which is naturally connected with having to share your personal details with CEX and expose yourself to their lovely spam mail)
  • Upon receiving the Membership Card, your return can be processed... by the clerk who was standing there all this time
  • If your return is caused by your fleeting fancy, you can only return an item for in-store credit - no refunds unless the product is unopened or has some kind of a defect... in theory
Now, the way I learned about this was that I was shopping around for a PSP charger and didn't feel like paying 10 quid in GAME for a multi-platform charger - I just wanted a USB cable compatible with the PSP's plug... so I walked into CEX with my girlfriend and we bought and Essentials pack which (according to the box) contained a charging cable - it was 2 quid so it was a good deal in comparison.

...except after buying it and opening the box, we found out that it contains everything except the charging cable. This whole returning debacle began, all for stupid 2 quid. They thought that we're going to let it slide because it cost so little, but at the point where the clerk said "the item is on sale because it is used, so it may have some items missing"... No, you dips*it, when you sell something, you have to sell it as advertised or mention what's missing from the box - I'm not Superman, I can't use X-Ray vision to check if something's missing.

Mind you, all this took place in whole 15 minutes - we literally opened the box right after leaving the store. Naturally as I'm not a UK citizen, the person who had the dubious "privilege" of becoming a CEX Membership Card owner was my girlfriend who got sick down to her stomach because she hates sharing personal details with stores. I got equally pissed off, not because of 2 stupid quid but because I actually had to explain how "a return" is very much understandable when a box I purchased does not contain an item advertised on it and because my girlfriend was upset.

Needless to say, our afternoon was absolutely ruined. It was the worst shopping trip we've ever experienced and we swore to never shop in CEX ever again.

Here we go again, another country, same BS. Really can't people get their shit together but from the posts on the topic and past ones GAME is just as bad as NA's Gamestop.
