Hey peeps, I've noticed that people have mentioned "We have got this far translating" or what not but no one has posted any evidence and it just seems a lil fishy.
In other business I may be able to help with this as someone with English as my native language I can assist proofreading and I doing a lot of coding as well so I could help with the implementation if needed anywho love the project and hopefully we could get a version with the menu translations done as that's what's stopping me from playing this! Keep up the work though :D

Earlier in the thread we posted screenshots. I don't plan on doing so again until I have hit the next major milestone of having all of the menu and combat text translated. The translation is progressing, but as I have gone back to college recently, not as fast as I would like it to. If you choose to believe that I'm not actually working on a patch at all, that's your problem, not mine.

Didn't you state earlier that the menu was finished? :?

The only statement regarding the menu from Sporky i found was something about it being done to around 80%. If you don't like how they handle showing the progress of the translation, then feel free to find someone else who does it.

The menu is finished, however the combat text is not. I'm lumping them into a single category for my purposes, since the combat text has a good deal of useful information in it. I also plan to do some further revision to the menu to make certain that I am satisfied with it.

I never said that, You seem to be taking my language as aggressive when in fact its mutual.

That's awesome, Problems I'm having is not knowing what does what and I can't find any translations for anything online so this would be the only patch in-development, Is there any possibility of a menu patch being released as a test because it's killing my enjoyment of the game at the moment :/

Mhm, Any-who Sporky what's stopping you from releasing a menu patch?

A single patch is better. No need to update and stuff.
What's the point of having a menu-only patch anyway?
There's already lots of English in the menu.

Hello! Just made an account to say that you guys are amazing and thank you so much for spending your time on this. No matter how long it takes, I'll always support you guys, and I'm looking forward to a patch whenever you guys are completely satisfied with it :)

I personally would not object to releasing a menu patch, but as I am not a one man team, we have collectively agreed to release a single complete patch. There are several reasons for this.

First, as Kalker says, a single patch requires no updates and we can thoroughly test that nothing is broken with our changes causing the game to crash.

Second, we believe that in a largely story driven game, it will be unsatisfying to play the game without any real understanding of the story.

Third, and to me less important, but still extant, is that in any case where a partial patch is released a number of people will quickly take that partial patch, change very little or nothing at all and claim it as their own, which is annoying as the group who have donated months of time and effort to developing the patch. The final version will likely include a relatively difficult to remove watermark, likely our group's name and website on the new game screen. The doesn't remove the possibility that someone will remove the watermark and claim it, but it makes it less likely.

Finally, a single patch means we do not have to support our mistakes. I had for instance initially, accurately translated the the kanji 層 as "layer", Kalker pointed out to me that the Light Novel translations have translated that kanji as "floor." In the spirit of consistency, I have change this even though I personally like layer better. If we released a beta patch, we would either have to release two version for those who like one better than the other, or have people bitch at us constantly about how we changed things that they liked.

Thanks, I appreciate your support and patience. I am hopeful, but not promising that it could be out by June. My initial goal was for the end of the year, but returning to school and some now resolved technical difficulties have made this effectively impossible.

I would be extremely happy if it was out in June, but I know it's very hard work so take your time, whenever it will be released I will be grateful. :) Good Luck with your schooling! I wish you luck with both this patch and your school! :D

The game is not completely translated, and prospective members are welcome to apply. However, I am looking primarily for people who have at least a basic level of kanji recognition, preferably in the several hundred known by sight or more. A good understanding of Japanese grammar is considerably more important than knowledge of kanji, however, as is a good grasp of English grammar.

If you like, PM me and I will send you the same test I have sent to others who have applied. If I am happy with the results you will be welcome to join us, but my standards are quite high.

Rejoice Tempers, I bring you updates!
It's been 2 weeks since I became an editor and
after a full page about how we are working on the game,
we've gotten the first script done, and we've been working on
combat text like Kero-chan mentioned above.

The 1st script is about a quest in the 82nd floor IIRC, and I've changed
some stuff so you don't have to skim through programming gibberish.

Asuna:
Wow...
What a great view, the lake is beautiful...

Asuna:
Ah, there's the notice board.
Let's see... "Lake of Purification"
――Lake of Purification!?

Kirito:
That sounds kind of familiar...

Asuna:
Kirito-kun...?

Kirito:
J-Just kidding,
The priest NPC told us to go
to the "Lake of Purification."

Asuna:
Well if you remember,
try putting the ring on.

Asuna:
I'll just put it on my accessory slot... and...
...?
Looks like nothing happened.

Asuna:
Kirito-kun, you have yours on, right?

Kirito:
I do. Maybe there's some other condition?

Asuna:
Ah...
There's something else written on the notice board.

Kirito:
Let me see... It says that
to be purified, you must take off
your clothes and enter the lake...

Asuna:
Ki- Kirito-kun...
Did you say "take off your clothes"?

Kirito:
That's just what it says on the notice board!

Asuna:
You mean not doing it means
we can't progress further with the quest!?

Kirito:
Well... Evidently...

Asuna:
H-hey, does that mean
we have to remove our underwear too?
After all...

Kirito:
Isn't this kind of thing common
for purification ceremonies?

Asuna:
Oooh~~~~!
You absolutely cannot look this way!

Kirito:
O-of course...

Kirito
(After all this time... I don't
know why she still says that kind of thing.)

Asuna:
You're thinking that "After all this time..."

Kirito:
Ah... Um...

Asuna:
It's just that... Lately we've been staying
at inns, so we really haven't been able to
do that kind of thing, Kirito-kun...

Asuna:
And, well...
When you suddenly said I had to be naked in front of you...
I wasn't mentally prepared for it...

Kirito
It's okay... I won't look...

Asuna:
Okay, keep looking to the left!
And... I'll get in the lake...

Kirito:
R-Right...

Kirito:
...!?
The ring is shining.

Asuna
Eh...!
My ring is too...

Asuna:
Ah...
The transparent ring is
turning a pale light blue color...!

Kirito:
Yeah!
We can move on to the next stage.

Kirito:
Uh...

Asuna:
Ah...

Kirito:
(Sh-Shit...
I wasn't thinking and turned around...)

Kirito
Asuna...

Asuna:
I said not to look this way!!

Kirito
Sorry! I'm sorry!!
I was just so excited that we advanced the quest!

Asuna:
Uh......

Asuna:
......

Kirito:
Um... Asuna... Have you gained weight?

Asuna
!?

Asuna:
IDIOT!!
There's no way to get
fat in a game!

Kirito:
Whaa! Kidding, kidding!!
Just wanted to change the subject!!

Asuna:
Turn around,
I want to get dressed again!

Kirito:
U-Understood!
I'm not looking! I shut my eyes.!!

Kirito:
(I saw Asuna naked under the sky,
If I say that her beauty fascinates me,
I wonder if I'd get yelled at...)

That's all for now!

I can't remember if it's been said on the forum before, but since the story files all have arbitrary titles like d4d0, I don't know where in the story things are until after I start translating them, so we'll end up having to translate things out of order. This is the first one I happened to open and translate, and it happens relatively early in the storyline.
