Hey, I've got a little problem with my wii today. I wanted to play Monster Hunter Tri but it was freezing on my neogamma r9b52, with ios 249 rev 17 (pretty old, I know). So I updated it with the d2x rev 6 of ios 249 but now my neogamma is giving me an "drive not connected error". I tried to change it to waninkoko's ios 249 rev 21 but nothing has hanged. What could I do?

You could download a USB loader (WiiFlow) and install the game from there. You've got some pretty ancient junk. And to be on the safe side, you should rehack your Wii using ModMii so you can install updated software on it.

I have Modmii installed..., I was softmodding my wii via letterbomb. I also have wiiflow installed but I prefered to run my games from DVD's. I was asking how can I get my neogamma working again.

Neogamma will use IOS250 for certain games. I'm not sure if mh3 is one of those games, that may be your problem.

Install d2x cIOS with a base of 56 to 249, and install with a base of 57 to 250.

edit-
I see that you only use neogamma r9 b52, update your neogamma to r9 b56 as neogamma will not automatically use the correct cIOS.

there is more than just those two games that use IOS250 with neogamma.
It shouldn't. The only significant benefit of base 57 is that it supports the USB headset, which only those two games use.

updating neogamma is the best thing to do for game and cIOS compatibility, that eliminates the need for the ios switcher.
I'd forgotten, there's auto-selection now, isn't there?

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.

    That sounds really cool
