I made many "big" mistakes in my short life already and I am not sure if I just did it again.....
Many people search for a Job and I could have gotten one right in the neighbourhood from where my girlfriend is living (which is about 200km away from my hometown) but because even though the company and the people including the boss were awesome I told the boss this morning on the 3rd day of trial working that I don't want to do the Job ....
He said he would have hired me for sure...

Now after I told all my friends that there is a high chance that I will move it is weird to go back like nothing happened and my girlfriend is crying since this morning because she says that never anything she wants works out ;(

Dunno if I really "need" to ask but would you do a job you are completely unhappy with only to have a job ? some time ago I would have said yes myself but now ... especially when I would need to move and let everything (friends....) behind for something that makes you unhappy :(

I have never had a job :(

But I am planning to join the Australian Defence Forces once I finish high school. Also planning on getting a job before that, need money for video games.

It's a job, ya dingus. You don't need to like your job; most people don't. You just burned a bridge over nothing.

Even if you hated it so much, why not just take the job and the paycheck until you could find something that tickled your fancy better?

No matter what job you get, you're going to hate it eventually.

According to your profile, you are 25. You should know by now that friends are not constant in nature - your roster of people referred to as "friends" changes throughout your life. Because of this, making life decisions based on staying around your friends is not the best idea.

Girlfriends are also non-constant.

What is constant is the fact that you have to live with yourself, no matter the decisions you make. Therefore, the main thing you should take into consideration when making decisions is how to maximize your own happiness in the long run. When we were young we were told that this is called being selfish. It's actually just human nature.

Personally, I have my own goals that I want to achieve in life, and I make decisions with those in mind every day.

If you have made this decision and it was the one that successfully brought you closer to realizing your goals, then you made the right one. If you wanted something more easily allowed by making a different choice (in this case, a more stable relationship with your girlfriend and money to allow you to be an independent person), then you made the wrong one.

Pretty simple really.

As long as you don't "hate" the job…
I actally do hate the job ... did it for 4 years and always went there with stomachache and headache all the time for the last year of work

There are people who are perfectly fit for a special job and some are not ...

Is there anything in particular that you dislike in that job? The drudgery, the backstabbing colleagues, the over demanding supervisor, the lack of progression?

Perhaps a tad more information about your plight could help us empathize with your situation?

I am supposed to do a job now that I utterly hate. So I keep procrastinating. I have a crazy deadline and a boss who doesn't understand web page production at all.
My dad.

Deadline on Tuesday to make a site for someone we know well, and my dad will make the design and content on the pages, and I will have to put it all together (and whip up a custom CMS "that doesn't take too long does it? 20 minutes?").
Now, he hasn't done the design yet, but though I could "make the pages so (I) just can fill in the stuff later"... Drives me mad and insane, but I have to do it to keep living at home.

So, even if it sucks, a job is still a job and a good thing to have until you can do something else. I would've kept it until I found another job that I liked better.

There are many things that do not fit for me.
The job is very dirty and I have bruses everywhere and metal chipping in my Hands and other places, it is very loud which already damaged my ears after 4 years already ... my dad dies the same job and he is barely deaf.
Often you work with chemical cooling ingredience which are poisonous and from my experience most companys remove security from the maschines and whatever

Well, I can't do a lot of jobs tho.
And I'm looking for something as an international courier or something.

Personally, I wouldn't mind leaving everything behind and being on the road an awful lot.
Friends, I hardly have them and family I never cared about.

I would rather not take a job that is bad for my health. For me, a job is supposed to help you live better, so if it makes your life harder in the end it's pointless to me. Unless there's good money at stake, I wouldn't put a job before my health. I personnally prefer to live long and stay healthy, even if it means being poorer and searching longer.

Sounds like a pretty hazardous job. I'd say anything that pays you to do something detrimental to your health is a strict no-no.

In which case, perhaps it may have been best to leave your job. I hope you find a career that is both fulfilling and safe

yes i would kill for a job right now.
thats the reason i am moving to Canada next month.
i might be getting a job at a hospital where i live and even if i don't get the job , i think i have a better change at getting a job in a city where more than 150.000 people live than a small island with, more or less, the same amount of people.

no matter how shitty is your job, there's always someone else would take over your job because it's better than having no job at all.
if you won't/can't endure it much longer, I suggest quit before it become to much burden (medical bills are expensive).

Well not many jobs are really fun, but the idea is you use the money from the job to A) make a living and B) invest in things you do love.

Even if you hate your job keep in mind that that paycheck is keeping you afloat and, if you have surplus, going towards something nice. Maybe a vacation, some video games, even a nice dinner with your girlfriend.

I mean I don't "enjoy" my job (I don't really hate it, it's just not exciting I guess?) but I need the money and plus I get to do some nice things with whatever I have left after life expenses. Even just being able to hang out with friends and go grab dinner with them is a like a serious highlight.

I believe any job you could have you are lucky to receive with the way the world currently is. For myself I love my job and am thankful to have it, I realize that one day I might not love it but for now I know that without it I'd be dead already. It took me a year and a half to find the job and during that time I tried to kill myself twice from the stress, worry, and fears for the future that I just couldn't take. It starts to constantly build after some time as people start depending on you, asking you about things you can't do or handle, with bills, and living expenses piling up on those people. Along with thinking about the people that might have to carry you through the time you are out of work. I'm only 21 while you are 25 so I might not have the proper experience to tell you, but I believe you have made a mistake.

You should have took the job, and continued searching for work while you did that one. Having something to keep you afloat while you find something better. Now I work as a security guard for an international company, I have no idea about their offices in Germany but look up securitas and apply. They are usually within constant need for new guards, no matter what the location. They will train you at orientation and give you everything you need to work.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
