You change the mac address of your wireless adapter. In my experience, whenever the mac address of mine changes, the mac address of the virtual hotspot also changes to match the new mac address (except the last byte, which is higher by 0x02)

^_^ Thank you! Now I know what I'm doing, and that my 'personal guide' is actually correct! (took over a week to finally get that information clearly)
Thank you adiktus!!!

Also, is there anyone else attempting to do a HomePass using a system that is using two WiFi adapters (one for internet, one for Hotspot) and can note any differences about it (if any)? I've gotten successful Streetpasses through mine, so I know it does work, but it does seem to be a bit off... though that may be because I didn't have that confirmation about which mac address to change before... -_-;

SONIC IS IN SMASH 4!!! >_<

hello people, I just finished setting up the relay on win7 using a wireless adapter dongle and i have a question.

do I need to do something in the 3ds? (besides connecting to attwifi) because I get the glowing nintendo zone icon, the internet connection works perfectly, but I get no streetpasses.

I've tried 3 mac addresses so far, maybe I'm using the wrong ones? halp please D:

Oh man it's been ages since I've been on GBAtemp, but now I must for the sake of homepasses.

To start, I'm using the windows 7 method. I have a laptop with a wired connection (which I use) and a wireless connection (which I really dont). I followed the steps, set up a wireless network (which is called 'attwifi'), and last night was getting several streetpasses.

However I seem to have bungled something.

I currently have three networks. One is my local area connection (LAN), one is Wi-Fi, and one is attwifi/Wireless Network Connection 2. Right now I have Wi-Fi set to allow other networks to connect, and the Home Networking Connection is listed as Wireless Network Connection 2.

In theory, I should maintain my internet from LAC while the wireless cycles when macs are pulled, but for some reason my computer's connection keeps going down when the mac changes. What am I doing wrong?

Edit to clarify: When my LCS (Lan) was set to share connection, my internet would go out but I got streetpasses. Since I've swapped to Wifi, it looks like my net remains, but I don't seem to be getting streetpasses.

Cosmecin, have you checked what Mac your Virtual Router (miniport) is being set as? From what I've heard here, that should also change with the Wireless's Mac. If not, then that may be the location of the problem.

Romiress: When the 3DS sees itself connected to a network it always shows the "Internet" at the top, regardless of whether it really does or not. To verify if it has internet, either run an internet test with that connection or try accessing several (simple, not complex) websites.

Cosmecin: Then that's your problem. The program 'can' change the macs, but only if the mac in question CAN be changed. Not all adapters can do so.
If you go to the Adapter's settings and look under the Advanced tab, and find an option to manually change the Mac, then you can (and can simply change it from there as well). If not... then probably not (but I can't say I know for sure whether there is a way anyway).

I didn't know that, apparently this wireless adapter can have its mac changed if you use windows xp drivers. Gonna try that.

thank you very much for the help suicune :3

Hey guys have been following the guide for Windows 7 /8.

Currently using Windows 8 32 bit.

At first Street Passes would happen only little then last night I was receiving quite a lot. However....now I cant get a single one at all. Funny enough this happens just as Nintendo have done their direct.....don't know if they've messed with the servers whilst doing the Wii U update.

I have literally restarted the whole guide process again but now the 3DS wont connect to the internet on the connection test. The Internet does become available in the top left hand corner as it moves from Street pass (Green) to Internet (Blue) so I know its connecting, but for some reason it wont complete the connection test.

Could anyone offer any assistance please?

Again.. i'm following the original guide for windows 7 & 8. But if anyone has a better suggestion please feel free to suggest it...lol

Currently using a wired connection with a 802.11n USB Wifi dongle. And was using Virtual Router and Command Prompt. I did see a program called Mac PASS as well.

Anyone used that?

Thank you :)

UPDATE: even worse now Virtual Router keeps throwing me two different errors.

I tried a different VPN program called Virtual Router Plus but again the program state's it cannot start.

I really now am at a loss :-(

Wow that's a great news! There was no such anouncement at the European Nintendo Direct. It is interesting does he mean only six Mii Plaza streetpasses or up to six of any title?

I tried using my Nintendo USB Wifi Connector for the second time yesterday. The first try was a mess and I couldn't even turn the Soft AP on. So I uninstalled everything and put the idea of homemade Streetpasses aside.

Yesterday, I changed my Internet provider and tried to set everything up again, following the instructions presented here. This time, everything worked very well but every time I tried to connect using the NUWC signal, my devices showed an error or it didn't connect at all. I used my phone and my laptop.

My 3DS displayed an error (sorry, I'm away from it and didn't wrote the error code) saying something was not working, with a big red X displayed on the top screen.

Does anyone get it working? Please, tell me what you did, step by step... Pretty please?

edit: error 003-1102

Yeh Macycle seems to be failing for me.

I will take some screenshots of my setup on the computer and the 3DS and present them later after I finish work. Maybe someone might be able to tell me what is going wrong. Though personally I think its Windows 8.

Tried the Galaxy S2 method but didn't work. Neither my PC or my 3DS could see the attwifi network. Tried Riilay but it doesn't work. My 3DS can see the network, but I tried connecting to it, and it gives an error(Says that the netwrok wasn't set up properly, or something, and thus it must not be connecting to it.

anyone knows what I can do?

Go to Network and Sharing Center --> Change Adapter Settings and make sure Virtual Miniport and your network adapter are enabled. If so, then restart the computer to reset everything and start over.

I decided to use my Win7 laptop now. I guess I set it up just fine: 3DS can connect the internet through the Virtual Router Manager and everything, I can see it connecting and disconnecting from internet without any error messages and I used the main MAC address for my previous Wireless Connection (not the virtual one, of course).

But no Streetpass so far.

Any tips?
