Okay so I downloaded a 3DS rom and in some places it says how a roms image size is

1024
2048
4096
8192
16384

I downloaded Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Gates to Infinity and was wondering why the file was only 1gb 48mb and 576kb

are roms supposed to be small?

It depends on the rom: someone said on here that standard sizes range from maybe 64 to 256MB. Of course there are some games that go from 512 to a GB... not that I know what they are.

First, files on your computer are measured in bytes and ROM sizes are measured in bits. So divide the numbers you see on that scene site by 8 to get the megabytes. The files are also compressed when you download them so that further decreases their size.

To make sure you got the right ROM and it is uncorrupted, unzip it and drop it on the little app attached to this post and compare the 8 digit number shown on the command prompt to the ROMs 'imgcrc' on http://3ds.essh.co/. Everything's good if the numbers match.

For people who have Gateway, how long does the Windisk32Imager take to write to your micro sd cards? (state the Rom size, card class, capacity and brand also if you can).

4GB rom to a class 10 card took around 10min for me. Card reader is not that great and gets around 5MB/s, my new reader is should be here tomorrow or Tuesday. I'll do some proper speed tests when it comes, if you want (rom size, card, write speed, accurate time etc).

Works for me. For large ROMS it may take a while.

This one is faster, try it:

Hey, i used the tool on my roms and some dont work. Every one that loaded up gave me the correct imgcrc's but the rest all said Error - I/O error 998 (Donkey kong just said error) when i select them. Are they corrupted?

ok thanks.
Are all the files that are corrupt 4GBs? Could be that it won't read a file that large (its an old program - likely won't read past 2GB)
http://www.exactfile.com/downloads/

Try that (uncheck everything except crc32). If it doesn't work, the file is certainly corrupt.

kid icarus - I/O error 998
Donkey kong - error
Fire Emblem - I/O error 998
Kingdom hearts - I/O error 998
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - I/O error 998
Shin Megami Tensei - I/O error 998
Monster hunter 4 - I/O error 998

Ill try your new program now...

Update: I just tried SMTIV USA and MH4 JAP and it returned to me the correct imgcrc's thanks.
