Hey guys,

Today I got my brand new R4i 3DS RTS, long story short, I accidentally turned off the DSi when I was updating the card, now it won't read. I'm so scared that I broke it. All I have is my DSi, which is version 1.4.5 my R4i, and an Acekard 2i I have, which doesn't work. Please help me, I'm scared T_T :(

If you have any bootable flashcart then you can launch the updater and perform "C.P.R" on your bricked R4 by switching carts before you install.

Sorry, you bricked it.

You're going to need an original DS or a DS Lite, and a flash cart that works on them (like the AK2i) to unbrick it. Basically you run the DSL version of the update file on the AK2i (just start it, don't tell it to update), then take the Ak2i out and put the R4i in it and then tell it to update.

I did something similar. Was doing the 6.0 update on my 3DS card I've had about 8 months. Updated, accidentally hit update again before exiting. Shut off and figured I was fine because I had already updated. Cut the trace inside. Guess what doesn't read? And the whole force update with another card won't work as it fails the test (I imagine cutting the trace identifies it as something different?). So I'm putting off dropping another $19 :/

I'm just angry that all it said was "Please keep your DSi on." If it said "If you turn off your DSi, it will brick." I would have never turned it off. Now I have to buy another one. :(

Helpful as always. I was going to say he's screwed, but I didn't know this could be fixed.

I hate to sound like a troll, but you should try doing the research yourself instead of having someone hold your hand and lead you every step of the way. Try using Google. Search for R4i 3DS RTS brick repair. And also use your head. It's not there to keep your body weighed down. :P

Also, they say "Please keep your DSi on" because if you turned the system off while updating, you run the major risk of bricking. Depends on when you turn off. They also say leave the system alone when your updating. Don't mess around with it while it's updating. It's common sense. When you update, you don't want to make it stop. You must always ask yourself these questions.

Q: What is updating? A: changing files and data around on a system.

Q: What happens if I turn off the system while it's updating? A: THe update will end prematurely.

Q: What does that mean? A: It means not everything was changed, and the system doesn't know that, so it will try to use the mix of old and new data, and the new data will ask for something that wasn't there yet.

Q: Meaning..? A: DO NOT TURN OFF THE SYSTEM WHILE UPDATING. It's even written on Widows 7/8 when updating your system. It's everywhere. If it's not known yet, you must be living under a rock.

Hm, you can try swapping the MicroSD when you swap the carts too, but if it's not reading at all then it's likely that more than the header data was damaged, sorry.

It w-wouldn't work?

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

But oh well, at least I have something TO play my games on, thanks for the help. I'll see hwat I can do on my own for now. Thanks :D
