I bought this used Wii for 50$ with cables only, no Wii remote, the Wii's pretty modified, the health and screen menu is edited to a custom one, and the Wii menu is black (Its a white Wii) with a lot of homebrew apps as well (the seller said it was already modified, the guy looked a bit suspicious)
I decided to turn it on to see if I wasn't scammed, it turned on and since I have no Wii mote I had to wait for the custom health and screen to go away alone, after it did I decided to see if the Wii's DVD drive was working (the Wii was pretty dirty, I already have my own Wii I bought new on Netherlands, this one's just a secondary to keep me entertained while I still don't have mine) and I inserted a normal CD-RW on it to see if it was reading or not (I know what the Wii's reading sound is like), it started reading, then clicked 3 times and stopped, dunno if this is from the Wii's DVD drive or maybe it just refused to load it at all.

Also, the Wii is totally modified (and I don't know which version is it) so how can I remove every single shit it was added on it (like themes, I don't like themes as they brick the Wii) and re-hack it with letterbomb?

The disk drive (even if it's old enough to read a DVD-R disk CAN'T read any CD media so if you're going to test the drive, makes sure it's with something DVD based if not an actual retail Wii/GC game.

re-hacking it's fine (bannerbomb or letterbomb depending on the version number) but don't remove anything first. Just install the new stuff over the top of it. (removing stuff is the most dangerous as far as causing a brick)

Also, start it up with the reset button pressed to see if it has priiloader and see how many times the drive light flashes when it doesn't have an SD card in the slot to see if you have BootMii@boot2 if you don't, you might want to leave that theme in place until you get one of those because there is still actually a SLIGHT chance of bricking when putting the original theme back but leaving the existing one there shouldn't be dangerous. (the other guy already took the big risk when he installed the new theme in the first place.)
