Attention all GBAtemp DS ROM hackers, translators, programmers, and the like. GBAtemp member Aaron Chmielowiec has taken on the task of translating Game Center CX: Arino no Chosenjo 2 into English. While starting out with little-to-no knowledge in DS ROM hacking, Aaron has already made noticeable strides towards building momentum for this translation.

If you are unfamiliar with this game, it is the Japanese only sequel to the 2007 Retro Game Challenge. RGC utilized various 8-bit styled mini-games which incorporated challenges that unfolded across a unique gaming experience. The game was rather popular among gamers and retro fans, but due to poor sales figures its sequel was never considered for a N. American release. This blow hit hard with fans of the series as the sequel included new challenges from Super NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Famicom Disk System styled games.

An attempt has already been made to translate Game Center CX: Arino no Chosenjo 2 into English. This project continues to report progress but has appeared to lose momentum. Which translation will be better or which will even reach completion is a matter that our community can now take into their own hands. If you have any DS ROM hacking experience, then considering lending your support to the project. It would be great to see this game finally translated into English, and even greater to know that it was accomplished with the help and support of our community.

I loved the first one, so I hope this project will finish.
But I'm not getting my hopes up yet, since a lot of these projects tend to either fail or take years to complete.
I will definitely play it if it gets finished, just like AAI:ME2, of which I hope there will be a first release soon.

He seems to be making pretty good progress though, and most of the game is not that hard to translate. The only problematic parts are the RPG and adventure game from what I understood.

So, based on the comments, I guess nobody's going to help with this project. I think I'd like to help translate though. Not that I know where to go since I've never done something like this.

I have looked at the thread now, and do think he's coming along nicely, but you never know, until it's complete and finished.
I guess it's not as hard as translating AAI:ME2.

Well, I can't speak/read/understand Japanese and don't have any experience in romhacking whatsoever.
If you want to help translate, posting here won't help him, try the actual translation thread or PM'ing the translator.

Oh hey, I just noticed this thread.

Thanks for the support. I have been making great progress with the help of some of the users here and the original team. To say that again, I am working with members of the original team. There is no need for competition in a case like this.

The translations are tedious but are coming along and a significant chunk was done a long time ago by the original team. The dialogue and script for the Adventure Game(s) and RPG need to be done but right now we are in the middle of extracting all that text. Most of the in room chat text with Arino, his floating head conversations and the challenges are mostly done. That includes the telephone conversations I believe. The action games don't require much work at all. The manuals and in game magazines are on their way but that is not 100% complete yet.

If anything, the graphical work is really messy. I find it horribly messy to work with graphics in an NDS title and if anything, I will need help with that more urgently, particularly with the RPG where all the menus are graphics it seems.

I guess that is about it for now. I'm pushing for the dialogue from the intro right up to the first few challenges...well, I'd like to say soon but there are still a few things to do. When that is done I plan to make a video explaining the progress as well as the fully (or mostly) translated edition up to the first few challenges. I have a lot on my plate outside of this project like kids, a job and other projects and books I'm involved with, so all the help I've had already has been incredible.

Thanks for your interest and patience. I'm sure it must be quite humorous to see a relative newcomer struggle with things that may be elementary to others here.
