Kickstarter, the popular crowdsourcing website, has the been the host of many, many successful projects. From books to movies to games (and even entire game consoles). Naturally, just about everyone and there mother is trying to get on the gravy train before it leaves the station.

Which brings us to...

You may remember Uwe Boll as the German filmmaker behind movie adaptations of games like House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Far Cry, Dungeon Siege and Postal. You may also recall that all of these movies were pretty much horrible and, some would argue, made in part to exploit German tax codes. Boll, in turn, is something of an unpopular (to put it lightly) figure among many gamers.

Keeping that in mind, Boll has recently launched a Kickstarter to raise $500,000 for a sequel to his 2007 adaptation of Postal. True to form, he treats the first half of his Kickstarter page as a joke. He initially describes Postal 2 as the movie that "will finally destroy the film industry and the world we are living in." It also states that the money earned in the campaign will go "all for the cocaine for the stars." In the "Risks and chances" segment of the page it says, "Everybody will hate you but the NRA will love you in being part of POSTAL 2. Our bodycount will be higher as Hiroshima and Dancing with the Stars combined."

Boll shit.

Anyway, he goes on to state that the film would star him, actress Jackie Tohn, and "whoever survived part 1." The campaign runs until October 27th, and if successful, would begin shooting in Spring of next year. Uwe is aiming to deliver the final product in August 2014. If you so desire, you can donate here.

Before you guys go positively postal, I have to admit, I'm digging this. Really, honest. It's clear that Uwe Boll just doesn't give anything resembling a shit, and you know, I can appreciate that. Plus, this is a lot more entertaining if you think of him less as a director and more as a performance artist.

Bravo, Uwe, bravo!

Honestly I think this is pretty hilarious. I mean, really?
We want to make a movie which is totally uncensored, pointed against everything and everybody, against every political party and every religion. There will be no survivors.
Help us to to make this campaign possible. This movie is important and nobody besides Uwe Boll got the balls to make it.

No way, I can't believe some people actually would actually throw some money into this while knowing how horrible his adaptations were.

Thank god. When I checked the page I was a little worried, but 7k on his first two days (with free publicity) is pretty god awful. I'm not expecting much to come of this.

and thus the whole world joined hands and sang...

YES! This is great news to me, actually.

Now, don't get me wrong - his films are terrible and cringe-worthy... and that's the whole point. Some of them are so bad that they're good - you don't watch them expecting quality cinema, you do the exact opposite. I enjoyed "Postal" and I'm willing to believe that I'll enjoy "Postal 2" even more if it "Kickstarts".

Unlike most of Uwe Boll's projects which go horribly wrong ("Alone in the Dark", anyone?), "Postal" is supposed to be terrible and outrageous, making Boll the perfect director for it, really. His works are a satire on cinema while the game is a satire on video games - it's a match made in heaven.

I would imagine someone who makes assumptions of people based on a single word thinks a bit too damn high of themselves.
I would imagine someone who makes assumptions about other people's assumptions assumes too much.

I think it's only satire it it's intentional. It certainly didn't start that way, but he acts now as though that was his plan from the beginning...which it wasn't...

I'm actually willing to believe that it was a stunt all along, but fair enough. B-Class cinema is dear to my heart, be it born by ineptitude or filmed "B-on-Purpose".
