Hardware Should i buy the PSP street?

I have had every PSP,including the vita...I'm going to keep this as short as possible.Basically,i liked every psp,vita impressed me.My vita's memory is filling with games and i can't afford to buy more memory cards,so i've decided to buy a new psp to redownload the psp games on...I don't mind the no wifi thing of the psp street,i'm only wondering about the screen.I've read many reviews but noone talked about the screen.How is the screen?Is it better than the 3000 or GO screen?I'm guessing the psp games i want to play look better on it than they do on the vita,because most of the games look stretched out and awful on the vita's screen.I never saw the E1000 in person,but if it's as bulky as the vita,or the 1k,i dont mind.

It'll be in your best interest to save up money and buy real MSPD card for PSP. It really doesn't make sense to buy another PSP.

I believe you misunderstood,i don't have any PSPs at the moment,i gave them all away,i have a 16 gb memory card in my vita and i have tons of UMDs,i dont intend to buy another memory card,so its either the psp street or 3000...I'm just asking about the screen...

Don't buy the E-1000 unless you're a collector - I wouldn't recommend this system to an enemy, let alone a fellow GBATemp member, and that comes from the guy who gets called "Foxi4Sony".

The quality of the mono speaker (sic, no stereo unless you hook up headphones) is poor, the built quality is appalling, the console feels like it's going to fall apart any moment, the lack of a WiFi module is a bother, the system is bulky and feels cheap.

If you insist on getting a new (or relatively new) one and want to be a cheapskate, buy the PSP Go - it comes with built-in memory so you won't need an additional memory card. If you prefer the standard shape, get the PSP-3000. If you don't mind older pre-owns, hunt for a pre-8B Data Code PSP-2000 - it's my favourite model due to being Pandora-Compatible and having 64MB RAM, but if that doesn't interest you then disregard the suggestion.

The tl;dr version is what follows -"on the plus side, colours are more vibrant and the PSP-3000's scanline issues are gone, however the screen appears to be more pixelated and suffers from visible dithering issues" so pick your poison.

Look,i'd get the 3k in a heartbeat if it didnt have issues....I can get an used psp 3k with a 8 gb memory card...Same price as the psp street...

buy a 3k or psp go. these days you rarely need the pandora battery. just install a 6.60 cfw and you are good to go. light cfw isn't an issue imo, as i generally leave the psp go in sleep mode.

I had a feeling you would - the E-1000 really isn't all that great. As for the final choice, it depends on three things - whether you have any intention to hack them, what you're going to do after hacking them and which "poison" are you going to pick in terms of the screen.

Here's a comparison of the PSP-3000's screen and the PSP-2000's screen (the common type). As you can see, the 3000 ghosts and on top of that interlaces. The PSP-2000 ghosts, but the colours appear brighter and richer. If you're lucky though, you might get a 2000 with one of the screens that practically didn't ghost at all (there were several revisions within this family) but that you'd have to determine yourself.

As for the hacking aspect, check if the PSP has a Data Code of 8B or lower. To check that, remove the battery from the battery compartment and look for the serial number on the sticker there - the Data Code will be next to it.

The reason why you'd want to know is that 8B or lower signifies an earlier motherboard compatible with Pandora and this compatibility is desirable for tinkerers who like to modify and customize their system without the risk of bricking it - Pandora allows you to unbrick the PSP practically regardless of what you've done.

If it's above that point then chances are that the hardware will be practically identical to the PSP-3000's as far as the motherboard is concerned, in which case I recommend the PSP-3000 instead.

As for comparing the systems beyond this scope, they're about the same in terms of comfort of use. The PSP-3000 has a built-in microphone and a more common serial bus (next to the headphone jack) so it's easier to get a remote and an external mic for it, but it's not impossible to get them for the PSP-2000 and I doubt that the microphone itself will see much use anyways as it's only used for Skype and SOCOM games, the latter of which have been taken offline as of late.

To reiterate, I would pick the PSP-2000 if it's one of the early, pre-8B ones. If not, I leave the decision to you based upon what you see yourself - check the systems for faults, weight the pro's and con's and make a decision. Personally, if it's the later PSP-2000 (post-8B) then I'd pick the PSP-3000 - it has the ever so slight edge in terms of features and it's much easier to find accessories and replacements for it.

Pretty sure the 2k is not an early one,and if it is,i don't care,i know for one that the 3k is also hackable enough that you can play backups on it,although i intend to use ISOs of translated Japanese VNs that i bought on Japanese store...Are the 3k screen issues noticeable in visual novels?I never noticed ANY screen issues on my old 3k,although i didnt play it too much.....I know people complain about the 3k screen often,but seriously is it that noticeable?

It's not that noticeable at all without a magnifying glass or very keen eyesight. If it didn't bother you on your old model then I wholeheartedly recommend getting the 3000 rather than a late 2000.

Don't expect anything near the retail price of a new unit. I'm not too familiar with the prices in your region, moreover, everything depends on how well-kept the unit is. I suggest looking up the average prices on E-Bay.

From what I'm seeing, anything between 80 and 120 euro goes, especially if you bundle "goodies" with the system. Of course you'll get the lowest possible price if you trade it in yourself, so maybe you should consider selling it online without the proverbial middleman, either on E-Bay or on the Temp's Trading Forum.
