GTA V is probably the most anticipated game on the planet at this point, and that hype has only been building with each new reveal. Rockstar has been pretty open about the game's design, layout, story, and characters, but there's one thing that they've kept under wraps - details about the online multiplayer mode. The wait for more information has been a long one, but it's finally here, and it does not disappoint.
Suffice it to say, Rockstar is putting the "grand" in Grand Theft Auto all over again.
To recap some important points from the trailer...

Suffice it to say, Rockstar is putting the "grand" in Grand Theft Auto all over again.
To recap some important points from the trailer...
- Los Santos will be a persistent online world with continual updates from Rockstar. Pretty MMO-like from the looks of it.
- There will be structured missions and events (like committing bank robberies), but players are free to do as they please
- Earning money and repuation will be a major mechanic, and money can be used to purchase cribs, garages, etc.
- Customization is huge - You can customize your character, your clothing, your weapons of choice, your vehicles etc.
- You can play as female characters,
a first for the series (iirc) - Classic online modes (races and deathmatch at the very least) are also available
- Players can create their own races (create the path, set checkpoints, etc.) and deathmatches (allows you to place items, weapons, vehicles, etc.)with a content creator. These can be shared online.
- GTA Online will not launch with the release of GTA V. It is set for release on October 1st, and will be free for all those who purchase GTA V at retail (Might mean that GTA Online can be purchased separately, but there's no word on this one way or the other at the moment
