With the Ezflash 3n1 being the only readily available flash cart, or the closest thing anyone can find to one. The Ezflash IV being out of production and hard to find, not to mention price gouged to Shigeru Miyimatos high heavens.

My plan is to buy a slim Ezflash 3n1 because I can't seem to find the normal sized GBA 3n1 anywhere and just put it in a dummy cartridge housing and flash games to it. Has anyone done this and does it seem like it would work? I was planning to use hot glue as an adhesive and just glue it to the inside of a gba cartridge and glue it back together or screw the housing back together. Thanks!

I've done this before and it works as expected. I will try and post pictures this weekend.

I'll get back to you after I get a chance to look at the cart. It's been a few years since I made the modification.

Here are some pictures of my modification. The case includes portions of the original shell and portions of a full-sized GBA game shell. I tried taking it apart, but the glue that I used to form the back appears to have also adhered to the front. I needed to remove some of the material from the inside of the case because I replaced the battery with a battery holder. I vaguely remember needing to remove the motor (that provides the rumble feature) because of the extra size of the battery holder. Portions of the original case were used so the PCB would make good contact with the contacts inside the GBA/NDS.

If you do decide to perform the modification, I recommend you purchase a tri-wing screwdriver to open the game shell. Also, if you want to use a battery holder, make sure you purchase one that is as small as possible. The one that I used was a little larger than necessary and it made the modification a bit more challenging to complete.

The other mod you can do to a 3in1 is to shave off the overhangs on the 3in1 cart and add a handle or pull tab or string to it so you can get in and out of a GBA/SP/micro. I use dental floss for a pull tab and sanded the sides and edges off to fit into a GBA/SP/micro.

The only thing I would change is that instead of dental floss I would use rubber.

Oh forgot to say that you will need to use a drop of superglue on the knot you make with dental floss. Any force you use will make it come apart, the superglue will keep the knot together even when you pull.

---

Using rubber requires it to be a thick band, that also means you have to remove more of the plastic on top to use.

Another thing about using a rubberband, in systems where the 3in1 is snugly stuck in. You can run the risk of turning the 3in1 into a projectile with a rubberband that is too elastic when your trying to remove the 3in1.

That is freaking awesome. So you used super glue on the knot and that's sturdy enough for some pulling action? I'm thinking of dremelling a small hole near the top to loop a piece of string of dental floss through, so as to add some extra durability.

I thought someone said that 3in1 only can support one game per time as it doesn't have a memory card? And that you have to put the game in via your DS?

I recently got a nice new GBA, and I've been using the 3in1 (Lite) version on it until my EZFlash IV arrives. All I did for it to fit was ghetto it up with glue and tape.
