Hardware Does the DSTWO Drain Battery Life Even When it's not Open?

I've heard that the CPU in the card itself take a lot of battery power, even in sleep mode. If I don't have the "Alex Rider" app opened and play some games I've downloaded to the 3DS itself, will it be draining battery power?

Yes. It draws power if it is inserted and the system is turned on.

I recommend doubling your battery life with an extended battery. I own 2 3DS's with the Nyko PowerPak (it's so awesome!) since launch.

The price has been reduced from $9.99 to $6.97 - and it's so worth it! All you do is unscrew your back cover off with the little screwdriver provided, stick on the power pak, and screw it in. It does add to the weight and thickness of the system, but you get used to it. I bought it for my trip to Japan last year - and it lasted me 1/2 the flight from the United States. I slept the rest! lol

The SuperCard DSTwo does drain the battery as you said, but it's not that bad, and this really helps!

Been thinking about getting one of them for a while now, but I can't seem to find any for the XL that won't throw more than $100 bucks down the drain. :/

Partially because the DS series has no sleep mode. It just tells the game to auto-pause and shuts the screen off, instead of... you know, actually putting the system to sleep to save on battery life.

I just pop it out slightly when I use mine for the day, it feels like it drains it as if it's playing a DS game that whole time. After 6 hours leaving it in, 3DS in sleep, I'm low on battery, in the home menu with nothing running in the background. I like to get streetpasses when possible, so I've just gotten used to a quick pop-in, pop-out thing. It's worth the trouble for the stuff the card can do. c:

I know this from experience, back when I used to use a DSTwo. Yes, the DSTwo drinks a ton of battery, even when just inserted and unused on the 3DS home screen in sleep mode. After learning this, I just started making sure I removed it from the 3DS when not using it.
