Will not work, he has an incompatible dvd drive for a modchip to work.
Without priiloader or bootmii@boot2 there's no simple way.
Except swapping Nandchips....wich would require a second wii as a donor.
Or look into a nand programmer
http://www.hacksden.com/showthread....Guide-for-Low-Level-Brick-(Full-Brick)-Repair

So basicly you will have to get a new Wii.
Sorry.
Does he actually need a modchip? I was under the impression he can use a original game + exploit to run some homebrew to try to fix things.

Maybe bootmii not booting up on start because i havent configurate it to autoboot to OFF

no, your wii doesnt start bootmii because you have bootmii as ios, not as boot2. like already said, your wii is to new to have bootmii as boot 2. the only thing you can do is install a wode, or simply buy a new one

Any modchip with compatible dvd drive. I would go with wasabi dx, just because I use it. Given a choice I would get a wode and just load ssbb from the usb.

Some modchips load iso from sd cards, some have not worked from recovery via sd/usb. Wode usb works, disc loading works.

Wode would be an option.
Soldering a modchip is not.
His drive is to new to get it soldered with a modchip, the contacts are covered in epoxy.( red Wii )

Mind that a Wode costs nearly as much as a brand new Wii.
He still needs to unbrick his console after installation and it's not guaranteed the unbricking will succed at All.
I would get a new wii and properly softmod it to be safe in the future.
Always have Priiloader and/or bootmii installed ( not as ios alone ) when screwing around with channels or themes.

That will not fix your problem all it will do is update your system for you.
The custom channels you installed will still be there and that is what caused it to brick in the first place.
You need to be able to get into the home brew channel so you can use a wad manager program to uninstall the custom channel that caused the brick.

As cheap as used wiis are i would just get another one from craigslist or a pawn shop and take this bricked wii as a lesson learned.
Seeing how you already have all the cables ext.. all you would need is a console itself and you could probably get that for $25 I'm guessing seeing how i see complete consoles with all cables go for like $50 on craigslist and a little more then that in pawn shops.

You could also try to find someone who owns a wode already and see if they will let you use it to fix yours or even have them fix yours for you.

seeing just the health screen is at least better than a black screen

If you REALLY lucky you just have a mail brick. You can try holding the + and - on the health screen and then pressing A and not letting go of + and - until you see something (if you ever do) ...

other than that, IF savemiifrii works you have some chance with a WODE ... but you might consider buying a cheap, used Wii as that might be cheaper than buying a modchip, especially since you already have all the cables and controlls and would just have to find one being sold without.

That's the nice thing about Europe, Nintendo has to deal with so many countries with so many different laws that it figures it's safer to fix it even if it's been tampered with.

Nintendo of America will take one look at it, say it's your fault for hacking it and send it back to you otherwise untouched.
