Welcome to The World of Pokemon

My name is Joshua Dunlop, I'm a freelance artist living in Kingston, London. I’ve worked in film and games for the last 6 years, creating monsters and rich story lines for them and even got to get in front to the camera a couple of times.

Ever since I got my first gameboy as a child Ive been hooked on Pokemon. It builds upon some of the fundamental elements of the imagination, blending science fiction and fantasy. A world filled with fantastical creatures with amazing abilities living alongside humans. Technology far advanced than our own and legends and a world that marvel against our own. With all of this and a collecting element to the game, they created something that would capture the hearts and minds of millions. However, as I’ve grown, Pokemon hasn’t grown with me. Its still aimed at a young audience, and rightly so, but what about their older fans? One day, I thought to myself, why isn't there an older form of Pokemon for a generation that grew up loving it, so thats where I came up with the idea, of ‘The World of Pokemon’.

The Idea

My plan is to build a fully interactive site with huge amounts of artwork and detailed information on the Pokemon world.

'The World of Pokemon' is a non profit website that shows Pokemon in a realistic way.

If it is successful, it looks like it could be a fun site to visit from time to time.

At first I thought it was going to be a more adult/mature-themed Pokemon game. T'was disappointed. It looks interesting... but meh. Not worth my euros.
so basically bulbapedia/serebii.net remake
Bulbapedia is basically a wiki containing real information, whereas this looks more like a fanfic.

Neat idea, but I can't imagine it'll be more than a few weeks before Ninty's legal vultures come circling down.
Maybe if you had to pay to use the website, but they're not making any profit off of the website, so I can't think of any legal ramifications to that. Then again, I don't know law.

we really dont know that but anyway he is collecting money right now using nintendo's ip it will most likely get shut down
the whole idea/site looks stupid anyway, its just a bunch of fan art, and fanfics (like the world needs more pokemon fanfics)

30,000 Euros... for an "interactive" website.

I'm not normally one to say "It's just a game," or anything like that, but... guys, cool your jets, it's just a game.

For all intents and purposes, if this is going to be non-profit then C&D doesn't really apply - fan art isn't banned (at least not globally - it depends on the country in question).

I guess he's going into a more realistic take ..ok, but his take on this didn't impressed me ...maybe if he finds another artist?
..but the way it's going, I don't thing it's worth my time at least

Hey, everyone. We just wanted to let you know that Dec. 31 was the last day that The Hero of Time was available for viewing. We came to an agreement with Nintendo earlier this month to stop distributing the film. In the spirit of the holiday season they were good enough to let us keep the movie up for you to watch and enjoy through the end of 2009, but not past 2009. We understand Nintendo’s right to protect its characters and trademarks and understand how in order to keep their property unspoiled by fan’s interpretation of the franchise, Nintendo needs to protect itself — even from fan-works with good intentions.
