Hacking What has the better music player? 3DS Music or Supercard DSTWO Player?

Just curious as to which player has the better audio quality. My guess is 3DS.

Doesnt matter cause the 3DS audio jack isn't exactly studio-quality and you're not exactly using studio headphones.

DSTwo could very least support multiple high-quality formats, and allow you to turn the volume much higher than 3DS' firmare allows you.

Turning the volume higher than the firmware allows is generally a bad idea because
A. if you have headphones it may blow out your eardrums
B. if you are using the inbuilt speakers quality will go down the drain faster than soap flies out of your hand

Though if you have a Music Unlimited subscription a basic digital Walkman is the way to go as you can't use offline mode on an iDevice, only Android, Vita, or Sony Walkman (and guess which of the three is the cheapest).

An actual MP3 player or Smartphone.
The 3DS/DSi/DS sound quality is horrible and the only way to get even halfway descent sound is to have really good headphones.

Honestly a PSP is kinda awkward to carry around as an MP3 player, they're a little on the chunky side if you compare it to something like a smartphone or a standard MP3 player.

I suggest going with something like a Sandisk Sansa Fuze (or Fuze Plus) they're extremely small, have great battery life, come with internal and external memory, are extremely cheap compared to an iPod, Smartphone, and PSP, as well they can run Rockbox.

Thanks for the suggestions on an audio player, everyone, but this is more of a curiosity than a purchasing decision. I already have a 3DS and a Supercard DSTWO.

God I wish 3DS sound output was louder, because I LOVE the 3DS player ability to instantly alter the pitch/tempo of a song. I can't find another mp3 player on Android that does that (found one that does tempo but not pitch.)

Just grab a Sandisk Clip+ and put Rockbox on it.

tbh the DAC arm7 uses to generate waves, is not that different than waves handled by the 3DS sound chip. Sound channels are increased, though. this allows for a more "true" sound, that handles sound waves with ease (not that many sound wave losses, because more can be processed in different "threads")

the problem I see is the low sound output power *by motherboard design, electrically*, which if surpasses a certain level, clipping occurs because overdriven amplifier

In other words, 3DS Mode player versus DS Mode player, but it's still a terrible device for playing audio.

In the sense of the 3DS; I'd say moonshell with 320kpbs mp3's get the job done okay.

Dang, I should get me one of those. Those look pretty cool for those who don't want to spend the money on an Apple product. The question is, how is the audio output (mids, highs, lows, etc)?

For the price you pay, they are surprisingly very good (a lot of audiophile will recommend them). Lows and mids are rich and detailed. You can hear start and end of the pitch. High is a bit weak but still very enjoyable.

Clip+ with Rockbox means better battery life and more EQ options.

I've heard of Rockbox, but never tried it. Looks like a good program to use 8 GB should be more than enough for my needs, but it might be overkill.

For battery life, how many hours are we talking?
