I don't normally make hype threads but this is a Mario and Luigi game and I fucking adore the series so why the hell not.

Release Date:

North America: August 11, 2013 (a whole month later because NoA hates us)
Europe: July 12, 2013

Reviews:

Official Nintendo Magazine UK: (92%)

It's easy for a Dream Team Bros. review to become a list of neat stuff. It's a game that introduces a new idea, mechanic or boss fight every half an hour for around 35 hours- and that's without investing in side content: excavating stat-boosting beans, waking scattered Pi'illos, reassembling CCTV footage (don't ask), an extra tough boss rush mode... It's absolutely rammed and gets better the less you know, so we'll draw a line under it there.

So it is that 3DS's incredible first-party run continues. In the year that has given us the definitive Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing it only makes sense that AlphaDream should step up and deliver the best Mario and Luigi game yet.

VERDICT
+ A near constant drip-feed of barmy invention
+ Smart twist on traditional turn-based brawls
+ One of 3DS's funniest games

A game set in Luigi's wildest dreams turns out to be the game of our wildest dreams. What are the odds of that, eh? This is tirelessly inventive fun.

InsideGamer.nl - 80%

The newest in the Mario & Luigi series is once again an especially fun RPG. It's filled with dry humor and the standard gameplay is originally supplemented with a 2D world that can be influenced by messing with Luigi's face. A great addition to the franchise.

Features:

- Still using sprites baby! ("They chose sprites because it's part of the Alpha Dream heritage", Iwata Asks)
- A Hard Mode unlocks for experienced players after clearing the game.
- There's special requirements for battles, like 'no damage KO' which will earn you points, once you have enough points you will earn a reward.
- Sprites have 16 way movement on 3DS vs. 8 way on DS.
- Level up/Gear (proving this to be the superior Mario RPG series, RIP in peace Paper Mario)
- Nonsensical plot/same old witty dialogue/and more

Hard mode? : DDDD
Also don't complain about Europe getting something earlier for a change, usually it's the other way around. Turning colour into color takes some time, you know.
Seriously though I'm so hyped for this. Bowser's Inside Story is one of the very rare games that I finished more than once (three times, to be precise) and the third time I still loved it.
Also I will leave this here:

It's pretty ridiculous that the entire world will see this game a month before NA, but I'm still pretty damn excited for it.

Oh, also, "RIP in peace Paper Mario"? How does something rest in peace in peace, might I ask? :P

I love the Alpha Dream Mario & Luigi RPG's! The thing they have always had over the Paper Mario series is much wittier dialogue, and more enjoyable/inventive battles. I love that they are still sticking with the stats based gameplay, which was something lost from Sticker Star. Only a couple weeks to go! CANT WAITTTT!!

Like always, this will prove to be a fantastic M&L RPG.
Hopefully it'll make up for that huge disappoint that is Paper Mario sticker stars imo.

Level up gear?
Hard mode included?
Insta buy for me.

Iwata Asks details:

Partners in Time sales:

Toshiharu Izuno: "Sales for the Mario & Luigi series had slowed with the second game, so we thought about how we could make a comeback with the third one."

Akira Otani: "That's right. The third game was a chance to rally, and when I was thinking about how we could make it, Kubota-san suggested that we consider using Bowser. I couldn't see how we could make the game with Bowser, but when we started thinking about gameplay with Bowser, a lot of interesting ideas came up."

On difficulty levels

Tomomi Sano: "There are substantial support features for people like me who aren't great at action games, which is a big help. If you get wiped out, you can redo that scene, and right there, for one time only, Mario and Luigi temporarily get strong.

If you get wiped out again and do the same battle over again, a Hint Block appears. In the Mario & Luigi series, all the enemies attack [in] different ways. If you look at the hint, you will learn an enemy's weak point or a tip for dodging. But in the end, you still have to play hard for yourself. If you fail at the Bros. Attack a few times, Slow Attack Mode kicks in. The moment you do a finishing move, it gets slow so you can get the timing just right."

Otani: "For those who like a challenge, while it's rare for RPGs, once you clear the game, Hard Mode appears... It's for advanced players, but it's so hard that even we can't do it!"

On this being the biggest game in the series

Otani: "Compared to previous games in the series, this one has a lot of volume. A lot of people said they wanted more to play in the third game, so I definitely wanted to increase the volume a lot for the next one. Of course, it isn't just longer. We added a lot of extra challenges."

A hard mode so hard even they can't do it? Well, hell, it can't be impossible since every attack can be avoided or countered in these games, so sign me up!

I'm so hyped for this, I love the heck outta the M&L games.
I got paper mario in october and traded it in for FE as soon as I could, it was horribad.
And sprites. My lord sprites. I remember being young and disappointed DS games used exclusively sprites after SM64DS, but I miss them now xD

Game looks like the title almost puts it. BiS was a step in the wrong direction, and this on looks like more of an actual sequel to BiS than a "new" game like the other 3 were.

It would be cool if the story connects to the other 3 in some way, especially like how farful from SS ended up in BIS or how home the purple aliens ended up as some sort of Easter egg also.

I think the stories are separate but include references to the others. Also, play BiS, it's fucking amazing.

Ok thanks. I guess i will wait for this one a bit then though since i have BiS on my acekard which i havent played yet, and do that one instead first. I think i can scratch this game off my list for now on my recently created topic then and pick up some other 3ds games instead

I honestly never played either of the DS Mario and Luigi games. I played and loved Superstar Saga back on my old GBA in the day and loved it. I def want to get dream team. But can anyone tell me, is there any type of over-arching story where it would benefit me to play Partners In Time and Bowser's Inside Story before Dream Team? Now don't bother arguing that both titles are fantastic. I am aware of this, but I just want to make sure that there isn't a big deal if I play the titles out of order. I've never sensed there was an overarching theme or multiple allusions to past titles, but I honestly don't know, so I wanted to make sure.
