I know there has already been a lot of threads about upgrading to 6.0 and this is my first post.
But I thought I'd buck the trend and post about it before I do the upgrade so I don't fuck it up.

This is my first time having to upgrade a flashcart, on my first ever flashcart and my first 3DS, so I don't want to mess this up.
I've already downloaded the 1.60 patch and Wood 1.60, I unzipped 1.60 onto my microSD card.
So now I need to unzip the patch as well, then run the R4 card on a system other than a 3DS and run the R4iGold_3DS60_Patch_NDSi_3DS.nds to let it patch and hopefully not accidentally brick it.
Then cut the signal line and hopefully everything will work.
Someone please just read that back and make sure everything is right and that I didn't miss anything ;_;

Is there also a way to test that the signal line was cut properly, I have also
done all the steps (wood, r4iGold firmware, r4iGold signal line).

After that, the card is still functioning but I'm still reluctant to update the 3DS firmware as
if it's not working after the 3DS update, I'm out of card. So therefore, I would feel
safer if I knew that the cut was fine.
(I did mostly to guard myself against accidently updating upon starting the 3DS, but I would off course
prefer having access to eShop again)

you can run the update on a 3DS as long as the console isnt already on 6.0.0

Is there also a way to test that the signal line was cut properly, I have also
done all the steps (wood, r4iGold firmware, r4iGold signal line).

if you use a sharp knife you should be able to use the tip and run it over the line, if theres a bump its not cut, if its a smooth stroke you know its cut

cut keep repeating the cut over and over until its smooth

well its quite common sense, the card needs to not be blocked to run the update

Still as I said this is the first time I've ever dealt with the DS in general
I don't think my brother has updated his 3DS, so I'll just be fine running the patch file I said earlier from there, cutting the signal line and putting it back in my 3DS?

After much fretting I borrowed a friends DS Lite and ran the update then cut the line.
Unfortunately straight away the card didn't work on my 3DS and made it freeze when I put it in, I tried a second time after restarting and it didn't show up at all.
But after cutting a little harder on the line and trying again it now works.
Case closed!
