I just picked up a 3DS XL and I have the firmware version 6.0.0-11U and I was wondering if there is a cheap legit flashkart that works with it? Also can you give a link too the flashkart please?

Thanks

And the dstwo?

He's being a jackass. The r4i update works fine for people who know how to do it, some revisions did not need to be cut. However I'm not sure if shops sell them with the newest update yet.

Dstwo works perfectly and ought to come preupdated. If not, it has a backdoor update system that allows it to work on consoles that block it. Source - I own three.

Honestly I'd splurge and get the dstwo. Its been the most headache free card thus far and each one I own has been a worthwhile investment. (Bought one, won one, bought one for my little brother. All 3 work)

Its the only card to not need a new revision ever to work. The r4i that is always recommended has seen around, if not more than ten. Don't get me wrong, support for it HAS been very good, but the dstwos support has been even better.

Ok. Its just that the dstwo is 40 and I found the r4i for 10... And I have a DS lite also (if that matters) with an acekard 2 but that doesn't work on my 3DS

I obviously can't make your mind for you (some pretty crazy shit if I could, lol) but following the adage that my dad says, "Buy it once, buy it right, buy it good". The Acekard 2i was at once point also considered one of the best cards out there, the option to go with if you didn't need all of the bells and whistles of the DSTWO. And for quite a while, it definitely was one of the better carts out there. However, the DSTWO is the only card that continued to work in a time where all others had failed due to physical design limitations. The R4i Gold made a new revision that got around it, and some more clones also made new revisions that did such. But look at the R4i now - on some of them, to get them to work, you have to physically cut an electrical trace on the card's PCB. I'm not sure the exact technical reason for that and what implications it may have on those models in the future, but it doesn't seem like a good thing. Some of the clones continue to work after updates without needing to be cut anywhere, but the clones typically have crap support, so it may be the end of the line for some of them soon anyway.

Yet the DSTWO is still here, fully functioning from the first ones ever to roll off of the production line. I can't, nor can anyone here promise that they will always work no matter what Nintendo does - they may find some super-ultra-mega way to block all flash cards once and for all and the DSTWO may fall victim to that no matter what the team behind it does, or the Supercard team may disappear/die off/drop support for the card in the future. At the present, neither of those look likely, but it's still a possibility. The DSTWO does have the best track record out of all cards on the market, which is fairly reassuring though, and it alongside the Cyclo DSi (which has no more support) is one of the most advanced cards on the market to this day, which makes it potentially wise choice.

If you're dead set against putting out the chunk of money for the DSTWO, I'd almost say to maybe wait a month or two at this point to see what the r4ids.cn team does or has to say about the cards that ended up needing to be cut, such as if they need to end up putting out a new revision, or if those will continue to be updatable and (potentially) working in the future.

Edit - Also, if it's any comfort right now, realhotstuff.hk has the DSTWO for $35 instead of $40 right now.

Well it looks like I'll probably go with the DSTWO and 35$ isnt bad. I don't really use much of the online features like the eShop so I probably won't have to worry about Nintendo blocking it. Thanks for the info!

And to think here...

You were defending the choice of a clone and telling us you didn't want a DSTwo because of the price.

People give you advice for a reason, you know. :P

team confirmed Rev C's should still be able to receive updates, even after the line cut people had to make

Oh, thank goodness. I have a DSTwo, but I still want a card that doesn't murder the battery life while in sleep mode. Powering a regular DS or 3DS cart lets sleep mode last for over two days, whereas sleep with a DSTwo inserted only lasts about 5 hours at best, since there's no option to permanently power off the processing chip on it. The poor card gets so hot. x_x

i was only confirming the fact that a update could still be applied

seems to be what nintendo targeted though on this update

Yes, I agree with you.
This update seems to have had two reasons:

Block DS Flashcards, many permanently.
Block Gateway.

I don't remember of ever having to open the catridge to upgrade a flashcard.
Few flashcards are working on firmware 6.0.0-X, and, I believe, even fewer will still have an update.

I think that's the most intensive anti-piracy firmware update Nintendo released so far.
