My personal advice to you is NO.
Get a DSTwo or something else that works for you. My revision of this card was lost in the shuffle last time and I ended up getting a PSP for GBA and SNES portable gaming and I'm happy with that.
Is there a way to use this update on my rev 6 card? Because i dont read something about limits to older rev cards on r4ids.cn so it should work theoretically.
It has the Dorasu icon in the menu and when i try to patch it on my old DS (yes i updated my 3ds because of the eshop..) it just dont work.
Here is a picture of my card:
i can CONFIRM
the Rev C line cutting will not hinder a future update

Also there is a New Hardware Revision coming of the R4ids.cn R4i Gold carts
but the only part that has changed it that they have removed the track that needs cutting

It's said in your mail that cutting the line doesn't avoid the ability to update. So the idea is not quite wrong.it wont update lol
cut line then run update = Update will Fail and not update
Update and not cut line = Error Message on 3DS
Update and then cut line = Working flashcard

Would it still be wise to purchase this cart?
I'm having trouble updating my r4i card. I did everything the instruction told me to do. I updated the new kernal and patch onto my card, ran the program and said update successful, and then cut the wire. But when I plug it in my 3DS it basically just freezes the screen. I can still hear the background music going but I can't do anything with the screens. It either just blanks out or freezes on the page. Anyone else having this problem? I think I might have just broken my card....

It would be wise to wait a new revision of the cart or buy a DSTwo.
Have you tried reinstalling wood?
Many people had trouble with it, just downloading Wood 1.60 and replacing the previous one seems to have been suffice.
Tried that and also made the cut as deep as possible. Problem is now the ds card doesn't even show up on my ds lite if I want to run the patch.
What revision will it be? C? D? Any other?
Since you've been contacting them, it would be nice if you asked this.
There are at least 3 different revision C cards that I know.
It's getting quite confusing, in my opinion, it's time for them to change the revision letter.
PS: Sorry for double posting
No after all the updates needed. I did exactly the same thing as the video posted on their website. Obviously I must have done something wrong if their system worked and mine didn't.You cut the line before updating?
