WHAAAATTT????
I love my Mac. <3 and holy hell, it is quite the step up from Dell. Dells deserve the terrible reputation.

Step 1) Do not buy the cheapest dell in the shop, I rate their business class stuff up there with almost anything else out there.
Exactly. I'm not entirely sure why people are entirely willing to pay anywhere between $1000 to even $2500 for a Macbook but when it comes to buying a normal laptop, the Scrouge mindset takes over.
For the price of a Mac you can buy a PC with specs surpassing it by lightyears, fact.
"PCs use the newest technology which may run better, but it can't be trusted all the time because it's not as reliable. Mac computers break, but not as much, because they use reliable technology that also gets the job done."
As far as Dell - I didn't order the cheapest Dell. In 2009, I ordered an Inspiron 1525 from them. After customization, it ended up costing $1200. It broke ALL the time. Hard drive failure within 7mo of owning the laptop. Keys popping off my keyboard. Not to mention, their technicians broke my computer and refused to fix it, long story. They also were sneaky little scammers. Trying to sell me a laptop battery for $125 when I got the proper model off Amazon for $30, free shipping.
Grrrrr.
I just think the build quality of Macs is far better than the piece of shit Dell I had.
If there's anything I'm willing to admit about Mac's then it's that their build quality is very high, however there's a huge number of other manufacturers who are also known for their attention to detail when it comes to their products.
There's a good reason why you're using Windows on your Game Development course - there's just not a whole lot of useful tools for MacOS. There's a whole lot of video, audio and graphics editing programs for MacOS, but that's about it - nobody develops on Mac's unless it's for Mac's. The system is very "closed up" wheras Windows and Linux offer a large number of libraries to choose from, facilitating development.
MacOS is a system for the average Joe, really. Windows and Linux are jacks of all trades. It's been like this since the dawn of time, and although MacOS's situation in this department is steadily improving due to the relatively recent spike in its popularity, it still falls far behind in terms of software support.

Please tell your friend that "PC" stands for "Personal Computer". A Mac is a PC - mind blown.
As for "the technology used", it is exactly the same as with other laptops - Macs and Macbooks are running on the exact same hardware as Dells, Toshibas and whatnot - the only differentiating factor is the presence of MacOS.
I'd also like to point out that nobody forces you to use Windows 8 - there's a myriad of other systems to
choose from, ranging from Windows 7 to such exotic choices as Linux or BSD-family systems.
F**K. I came in here expecting comments about the awesome McAfee vid, instead I get yet another "PC-MAC" bullshit argument.
