Hey! I've created my own account to ask this very question.

I recently went to R4win.com to buy an R4i 3DS. >>>>http://www.r4win.com/r4i-gold-3ds-card.html

After it coming in the mail 2 days ago, I've been trying ever since to set it up to no success. The R4 box has the website http://www.r4i-gold.com , which is supposedly where I get my firmware from. Going there, I click on the latest kernel, V1.79b, and none of the links load up. -__-

So I then scour the internet and found another link to the kernel, downloaded it http://r4town.com/pages/R4i-Gold-Kernel.html and extract all files to the root of my TF. Nothing, it tells me to turn the power off. After searching other sites, getting different other firmwares, they all point to the fact that maybe my R4 isn't working like it's supposed to. Maybe it was fake?

So, I wanted to post here the pictures of the R4 so that hopefully this site's members can determine whether or not my R4 is fake, or I made a careless mistake...
Thanks in advance!

^Thanks.

So does this mean that I can still use it? Or do I need a new R4 flashcart?

And the site printed on the cart is the same as the one on the box-- R4i-Gold.com

If it runs for now it'll run, just don't update the 3DS.

I see. Well, the darn thing never ran at all. Guess I have to wait for an update, or if it turns out never to get support, I'll get one from a better, more official website.

Well, I never had a problem before with my regular R4DS. But it seems to be a different case when it comes to the 3DS. What differences are there exactly between the DSTwo and the R4?

DsTwo has the fastest updates, and never needed a hardware update. It works on the latest version of 3DS and plays GBA games.

What you said R4 cards for 3ds are totally diffrent. The R4 card voor ds was made by a team but was cloned 1000x after. Since then the team original developed r4 stopped and there are plenty of new teams developing software. Unfortunately Clones do not have a dev team so do not have their own software.

Dstwo does not have clones and is the best flash card overall.

Btw, try wood firmware on ur r4i gold, you got a version for r4 clones aswell

Ah... you really did a good job explaining all this. Thanks.

Wood R4, right? You mind giving me a link? Since many sites may not hold the right firmware?
