With 3DS Miiverse out before end of the year, I do think 3DS will get accounts.

Nice. I might be slightly more inclined to start buying more stuff digitally if I had a safety net to my purchases.

I'm already scared enough of damaging/getting my Pikachu XL stolen, adding losing my ambassador stuff on top of that makes it even worse.

the issue would be that say you get a new XL
you just call up nintendo and say My console was stolen

then the worst they can do is just deactivate the console but it would need to get a wifi signal to do so
but the time from it being stolen until it gets a wifi connect the games are still on there and playable so it could have people multiplying games, selling them on, then when the person that bought it connects to wifi they lose everything.

Wait, maybe I'm thinking about 3DS friend codes, but didn't we already know this was coming, the logo is on the boxart for Pokemon X & Y, which comes out in October. Who's to say that they won't talk about it on the Nintendo Direct tomorrow.

Hah, I was just talking about this with someone yesterday. I remembered that Miiverse is supposed to come to 3DS later this year and was wondering if the 3DS gets a Nintendo Network ID then (or even before).
If digital purchases will be linked to the ID instead of the system then, that would be pretty cool.

I wish the money you have on your Nintendo account will be share between your console (ex I have around 9€ on my wiiu and 4€ on my 3DS and I use the same Nintendo account, so they could make that my account can use 13€ on WiiU eshop or on 3DS eshop)

It'd be amazing if you could sell the licenses back to the eShop, and the eShop could hold a limited supply of "discounted licenses" for eligible titles, it could give the eShop quite a boost when if you're lucky, you can score a title for a bargain price.

I think I read on Siliconera that only Mobile and PC Miiverse are gonna be completed this year and 3DS one next year.
