Kiefer Sutherland is to voice Snake in MGS V

As we know David Hayter AKA Solid Snake and Big Boss/ Naked Snake was not retained to voice the latter in the upcoming MGS V. This move disappointed fans as Hayter had done a sterling job with many wondering why Kojima and Konami were hating on Dave Hayter whilst wondering who the new man would be. In Konami's pre E3 event, it was revealed Kiefer Sutherland, most known for his work on 24, will take on the job of voicing Big Boss/ Naked Snake.

But for a game like MGS, which is a pretty big name anyway, it's unnecessary and anyone drawn in by Sutherland's name is probably going to be disappointed by the drawn out exposition the series is known for.

And for a movie? Please no...

Logically there'd be some relevance of his past fees in the decision. Hayter seems to have got on well with Kojima so unless it's a decision that's come from elsewhere in the company (or even a push from Sony themselves) it's a seemingly random move to spend a lot of cash on a "star" to voice an established character. Will this really pay off?

I love Kiefer the most in Dark City (film) and he was also rather compelling in Touch (a unique drama that was recently cancelled after two seasons on FOX)

That tweet shows he's not taking it well. Maybe I'm just not a huge Hayter fan but all his tweets just sound very whiny. But perhaps that's the point because this is likely some ruse, like the entire "Phantom Pain" thing. I don't remember Kojima pulling weird stunts in the past (not that I really followed anything about him), but all of this just doesn't seem entertaining to me.
